Witching Hour, Chapter 2

I am liking this book, glad it was chosen, lol
what does everyone think about michael's 'gift'
what would it be like to know things just by touching them, neat if controllable???, just plain freaky???

Witching Hour, page 250

I am enjoying this book, the characters are really explored.
As to Michaels gift, I think that if you could control it, it wouldn't be so bad, perhaps a little exciting. But so far, he doesn't have much control and has to wear those gloves.
I am now reading about the ancestry of the Mayfair family.

Re: Witching Hour, Chapter 2

I've actually read 'The Witching Hour' once before but started it again this August when I went to the states and had to spend a lot of time on a (actually ten or so) plane. So, I got to 'round about page 1030.

OK, now to Michael's gift... Since I have read the book in its entirety once already and read past most of his troubles with it this time around my opinion is probably not what it was the first time around but anyway - I think Michael is over-reacting. I felt it when it was first mentioned and I still feel it at page 1030 -what is he _so_ afraid of? I can understand that he thinks it's a pain in the ass to have all the people bugging him to see things, but still. If he feels his visions are benevolent why then does he hate his ability with the hands?

As for myself having it, I would not be telling anyone about it - of course Michael realized he shouldn't have done that either - and I would probably freak out a little if it wasn't controllable.

There - that's my opinion! /Jen aka Bethra.geo

Witching Hour, Chapter 16

well, how is it going???
a few thought on the book so far.

are all of the witches born out of wedlock, or from affairs within wedlock?? are none of them legitimate??

also, i am reading the history as written and observed by petyr, and i cant believe he slept with his daughter, although i do understand she was a witch. still. . .

just where did lasher come from?? suzanne supposedly called him into being, but he is learning, and quite possessive of the women who command (?) him. I wonder if it will tell in this book, or if we have to read a sequel to find out?? At this point, i am quite prepared to do that, my interest is peaked, lol

will petyr get off the island ok, and what will happen to him??

just some questions i have, hopefully they will be answered in the book.
would anyone want the power the mayfair witches seem to have??

type you later

Re: Witching Hour, Chapter 16

I went to the book yesterday and realized that I am only starting chapter 14, not 16.

I am at the part where they are talking about Deborahs death. I am anxious to read, at present am wondering if her daughter is petyr's child. I am reading it at the same time as my daughter, sometimes hard to share a book!!!!

Witching Hour: finished

Well, I have finished the book, and I have a few opinions on it.
It is a good book as, far as explaining the family history and stuff. Takes its time, and walks you through it, so you know what is going on. However, the ending of the book goes sooooo fast, that it is over before you comprehend what is going on. Now I know she is setting it up for the sequel, but come on, there are better ways of setting sequels up. She just sort of builds you up with the detail of the history, and of Rowan and Michael getting together and making a life in the house, and then, whoosh, the book is over, and you arent quite sure what happened, it goes so quickly. I will, however, get Lasher to read. I hope she does a better job with the ending on that one. I need to know how it turns out. Which I guess is the point of the ending. oh well. enjoyed it for a while anyway. lol. what are your reactions??? thoughts???

what is your favorite part of the book?? or do you have one??

thanks

Witching Hour - Finished

I have finally finished this book.

I cannot say that I liked the ending, I was surprised. I had decided that I wasn't going to read Lasher because of the length of the book, but the ending does make you want to. Still, I think that I'll save it for a summer read. I may have preferred a happier ending where either there is peace with Lasher or he is destroyed.
