One night, Mary Smith, 5, crept into her dad's bedroom. She had been having nightmares. She saw her brother and sister playing Clue, but no dad. She asked them if they had seen him. They said "no". Melissa, her 9 year old sister, said that he was probably grabbed by their witch neighbor. "Let's go in the house and get him" said John, the oldest one at age 12. "You!" Mary shot back. "It's a dare!" shouted John. "We can't let her go all alone, she'd get lost" said Melissa to her brother. "Oh, all right," grumbled John, "If I have to." So, they went outside to the house to the left of theirs and were about to go in when a raspy voice beside them said "What are you doing, little dears?" "A witch!" gasped Mary, but Melissa put her finger to her lips. Fortunately, the witch hadn't heard. The witch could not see the children so she thought that they had gotten out of her reach. She went away. Mary gave a sigh of relief. Suddenly, Mary thought she heard a wolf howl in the distance. She must have looked worried, for Melissa said "Don't worry, it's only a dog." Then she thought she saw a shadow coming, but it was Dad. Mary said "Oh, Dad, I have been having..." "NIGHTMARES!" they all said together.
