In Michigan, there was an old saying that went something like this...If you don't like the weather..stick around  5 minutes, it will change.  Here in California if you don't like the weather, you only have to drive 1 hour maximum in any direction, and you will find the ocean and Hollywood (to the west) the desert (to the east) the mountains (to the north) and to the south you have San Diego and Mexico...I like that better than waiting around 5 minutes waiting for the weather to change.

I have several photo's of different places I've gone to here in California, mostly taken before I moved here. It was because of these areas that I was determined to move here. No trip to Southern California would be complete without going to Mexico. You will see Mexico through my eyes..I don't like the typical tourists areas, you'll visit some of my favorite places.

A very big part of California's history is the Missions, and probably the most famous of these is The Mission of San Juan Capistrano. I made a visit to the Mission, and it is very beautiful and is still a working Mission. When I visited in 1982, the mission was in the midst of an archaeological dig, with the grids laid out in the back part of the Mission. Here are a few of the photo's I took during that visit, it is a must see if you are going to travel here. Oh...and yes the Swallows do return to Capistrano every year.

No page would be complete without some photos of "The Happiest Place on Earth", my favorite place, Disneyland. It's been about a year since I was last there, I used to go all the time, I had a years pass. Most of the time, I would just go and sit, watching the people from all different walks of life. I suppose if you wanted to see a accurate cross section of all people, this would be a great place to do it.

Disneyland ~1994~

This was my first visit to Disneyland in about 8 years. We had just moved out to California, my youngest son, Jason, had just finished basic training in San Diego at MCRD (Marine Corp Recruit Depot), and our Grand Daughter Chelsea and her mom, Alicia came to visit. This is Jason and Chelsea in the Autopia Cars...Jason let Chelsea drive, but since her mom and I was behind them, she would get all excited, and turn to look at us (giggling) and sometimes crash..

Disneyland ~1996~

The company I worked for had the company picnic at Disneyland in 1996. This was a really fun day (I had figured out how NOT to stand in the long lines for the rides, and I was was with my friends). We arrived early and stayed late.....we closed the place down, not bad for an old lady (grin).

The Lion King Parade

This parade was so wonderful. The music of Lion King was playing, The Circle of Life and I just can't wait to be King. The dancers was alive with motion and color, pole dancers doing things that defied gravity..all in all it was just too wonderfull, and if you get a chance to see this parade don't miss it.Here are a few photos from the parade.

And what would a day at Disneyland be without your favorite mouses...Mickey and Minnie. This was the end of the Lion King Parade, and for us (and everyone else) the end of the day. But I'll be back to the Happiest Place on Earth......because thats what it is.
