Aloha, I live on
the island of O`ahu, in the state of Hawai`i. The west side where I
live is the dryest area on this island. Down along the beach it is a
desert with less than 20 inches of rain a year. Up the valley about 2
1/2 miles where I live at an elevation of about 280 feet its a little
weter. Not much maybe another 5 inches in an average year. But we
haven't had that average year much lately. I doubt if we have had 10
inches this year (1999). Just to show you what averages mean, in the
month of November 1996 we had 22 1/2 inches in 12
days.
I have 2 acres and
have been collecting palms for about 5 or 6 years. I now have about
35 different species in the ground and at least 30 more in pots. I
have divided my land and planted geographly. You can visit the
different continents and see their palms by clicking on the links
below. Enjoy your self and drop me a line or two if you have
comments.
