Welcome to the Pumpkin Patch

My wife came up this great idea to take our son to an apple orchard.
Naturally I thought of the place to go.
A place where I and about thirty people used to ride our horse's to
.When I was 16 I had a horse named Conchella(I don't know what it means.
The people I bought the horse from were kinda strange.
They liked to party,so they threw some letters in a hat and got drunk.
Later that night they pulled the letters out of the hat.
They put them together and that was the name they came up with for the horse

Anyway every fall a bunch of people would ride their horses to Deihls Apple Orchid in Milford.
They had everthing you could want at an orchid.
Pumpkin pie, honey, fall decorations along with carmelapples, blueberries and all sorts of good stuff.

Now like I said this is the place I thought to go.
There are places alot closer to home but I wanted to share some fond memories with my wife and make some new ones.
Well memories we have all right, not very fond but memories just the same.

We left about 9:00 am and I always know a short cut.
No matter where we are going I always know a shortcut.
Burn the map and throw away the compass Jim knows a shortcut.Well a half hour trip took us almost two hours.
(Any body out there need directions. I know a shortcut)
So we pull up to the orchid and the first to hit me was the stench road apples(Horse manure to you city folk)
The second thing to hit me was the ground.
Upon stepping out of the van I proceded to step into the pile that was causing the stench.
Fell right onto my kiester(Rearend to you city folk)
Luckily the ground that I abruptly met was clean.

After looking around to see if anything had changed in 17 years
.We set out to find the hay ride.
Now a hay ride is supposed to bring back happy childhood memories.
Not a middle aged man's hay fever.
Well at least there was plenty enough hay for my sore rearend(Thats kiester to you country folks)

Well in 17 years the place had not changed all that much.
Including the bathroom door that sticks.
You would think that after a couple dozens times of locking yourself in a bathroom that you would finally learn.
Well you might ,but evidently I have'nt.
Nor the embarrassment that goes along with it.

Now the juice is just as good as I remember and the sweet smells of carmel made me feel like I was six years old and at the county fair.
I bought some honey and a pumpkin. The only problem is,don't pick up a ten pound pumpkin when you still have honey on your fingers.
Because sure enough trying to grasp a pumpkin with slippery fingers is like trying to stop a car on ice.
It can not be done.
My foot found out the hard the way.
I do believe the swelling has gone a little.

Well at least my son had fun.
He laughed so hard when I fell,I thought the little guy would come undone.
All he could say was"Daddy fall down like clown"
It is so nice to be able to make your children laugh.(Painfull too)

My wife had to drive home as I laid down in the backseat.
Trying to comfort my foot and hiney(Thats rearend to all you folk)
Oddly enough with my wife driving.
We made it home in about a half hour.
Go figure.

Well now we are home.
Time to carve out the pumpkin and make some pumpkin seeds.
I will let you know if I burn down the house,That is if I don't cut off my fingers carving the pumpkin.

Time to enjoy a beautifull Michigan fall.

Well as you can tell my fingers are intact.(By no small miracle either).Well maybe you can't tell because as I proofread this I do see some mistakes.    The pumpkin seeds went pretty good though I had a heck of time trying to turn off all the smoke alarms.

Getting back to the carving.I decided to do it on the floor with newspaper underneath to protect the carpet.Just like when I was kid.My son at least managed to keep it confined to the living room and kitchen.OH and the hallway with part of the bedroom. But really it was not that bad.Trust me on this ok ?( I know a short cut)lol.

Windex glass cleaner works great for pumpkin in your carpet. But do not use Murphys oil soap on the floor. This along with pumpkin makes for something more slippery than ice.Just when my hiney( thats rearend for you city folks.) was starting to feel better too.

It only took my wife a couple hours to clean up(The carpet that is)I won't tell you about how long it took for the rest.I do believe though that she got at least a good half hour nap before she had to go to work the next day.(Just kidding)

I think my, no I know my dinners are going to be ALOT more expensive for a long to come.

Kids are so cute with pumpkin all over them.My little boy standing there with a big ole grin from ear to ear.He had so much pumpkin on him.You could have swore he was the largest walking carrot in the world.

He did not however like bath time.Dried caked on pumpkin is really hard to remove from a childs hair.Oh well he was do for a haircut anyway. He actualy looks like a little marine drill sargeant(Is this correct) now (Really it is not that bad)

Well time to go,my beautifull wife and I are going out to eat dinner. She said something about taking out a loan from the bank before dinner.I wonder what she meant by that?????????We are running a little late so I'll have to take a short cut to restuarant(Darn is that right?

The mess was really not that bad and I pretty much cleaned up the house.Tyler's hair was fine except for one small part and that grew back.Things just seem worse when they happen or maybe it was that bad????????

Have a great fall and enjoy the Autumn rainbows
