I.      Richard Ratcliff Jowell, b ca 1764 md Rispah_________
        Spartanburg SC Minutes of the County Court, Vol 1794-1799:
       "On motion of Rispy Foster, for Administratoron the Estate of an absent James Foster who
        was formerly her husband, by Samuel Farrow, Esq., and other Councellors in her behalf
        and the motion being opposed by Mr. Nott and other Councellors in behalf of the brothers
        and kindred of the said James Foster and after a long and warm debate over the matter, the
        Court replyed 'We will give you our opinion tomorrow.'
            On the motion yesterday by Rispy Foster, alias Joel, for administration on the estate of
        James Foster  decided by the Court that administration cannot be granted to those requesting
        the same." (Mitchell:  It appears that Rispah, wife of Ratliff's eldest son, was first married to
        a Foster.  I'm told that a Rev. James Foster of SC, b ca Amelia Co VA, was first married to
        Rispy who was b Amelia Co VA.  This James was the son of Thomas Foster, Jr., and Lucy
        Clements).

         his first wife was Isabella Hamilton.  Their child, Elizabeth Murdock, md (1st cousin)
         William Jasper Larwood, son of Edmond Franklin Larwood and Tabitha Jowell.
