My family is of Welsh/English, Irish/Spanish Gypsy descent.
The English/Welsh is from Father's side and the Spanish Gypsy/Irish is from my Mother.
At this stage my research has been very limited and I am waiting for more information to arrive to be included which I hope won't be too much longer.

From the information I have gathered so far I believe my great-grandparents came to Australia via South Africa.
My great-grandmother was a nurse and my great-grandfather was a mining engineer.
They settled in Australia in the state of Queensland around the Sarina/Mackay area. My great-grandfather bought a large slice of land and commenced gold mining operations in this area and was sending his gold back to South Africa.

My maternal grandmother was a Carnes which is where my gypsy heritage comes through. They are a fascinating and diverse culture of people, spread out to cover every corner of the world and suffered many many hardships.
