This block uses three different fabrics,
two design fabrics, Fabric A and Fabric B , and a background fabric, Fabric C
Traditional Piecing Method:
To make this block, use the following templates:
Template A
Template B
Cut the following pieces:
4 Template A in Fabric A
4 Template A in Fabric B
4 Template A in Fabric C
4 Template B in Fabric A
4 Template B in Fabric B
4 Template B in Fabric C
Rotary Cutting Directions:
Cut four right triangles for Template A from Fabric A. Strip width is 4 7/8".
Cut four right triangles for Template A from Fabric B. Strip width is 4 7/8".
Cut four right triangles for Template A from Fabric C. Strip width is 4 7/8".
Cut four quarter triangles for Template B from Fabric A. Strip width is 5 1/4".
Cut four quarter triangles for Template B from Fabric B. Strip width is 5 1/4".
Cut four quarter triangles for Template B from Fabric B. Strip width is 5 1/4".
Piecing the Block:
1. Make two right triangles by piecing two Template B in Fabric A to two Template B in Fabric C.
Speed Piecing Alternative - Follow the directions for quarter triangles using 5 1/4" fabric strips.
2. Make two right triangles by piecing two Template B in Fabric B to two Template B in Fabric C.
Speed Piecing Alternative - Follow the directions for quarter triangles using 5 1/4" fabric strips.
3. Make two right triangles by piecing two Template B in Fabric A to two Template B in Fabric B.
Speed Piecing Alternative - Follow the directions for quarter triangles using 5 1/4" fabric strips.
4. Make two squares by piecing the right triangles formed from Template B in Fabrics A and C to Templates A in Fabric B.
5. Make two squares by piecing the right triangles formed from Template B in Fabrics B and C to Templates A in Fabric A.
6. Make one square by piecing the two right triangles formed from Template B in Fabrics A and B.
7. Make two squares by piecing two Template A in Fabric A to two Template A in Fabric C.
Speed Piecing Alternative - Follow the directions for right triangles using 4 7/8" fabric strips.
8. Make two squares by piecing two Template A in Fabric B to two Template A in Fabric C.
Speed Piecing Alternative - Follow the directions for right triangles using 4 7/8" fabric strips.
9. Make two strips by piecing one square composed of Template A in Fabrics B and C, one square composed of Template A in Fabric B and Template B in Fabrics A and C, and one square composed of Template A in Fabrics A and C.
10. Make one strip by piecing two squares composed of Template A in Fabric A and Template B in Fabrics B and C, and one square composed of Template B in Fabrics A and B.
11. Piece the three strips together to form the finished Card trick block.
