Try these to put a little zip into your foods.


Mustard
Spread thinly on pork chops, chicken or fish, then roll in dry bread crumbs to coat before cooking.

Soy or Terriyaki Sauce
Use as a base for meat and vegetable marinades.

Cider Vinegar
Sprinkle on freshly cooked greens like spinach, kale and collards.

Prepared Horseradish
Stir into mayonnaise for a zippy sandwich spread.

Salsa
Great on scrambled eggs, or to wake up cream of tomato soup.

Hot-pepper Sauce or Crushed Red Pepper
Shake a little into soup, or use to pep up rice or pasta.

Dark Oriental Sesame Oil
Sprinkle on stir-fries after cooking. Stir into Ramen noodle soups and oil-and-vinegar salad dressings.

Spices and Dried Herbs
Buy in small quantities and store tightly capped in a cool, dark place. If you buy large economy sizes, store in freezer.
