3---->What has the Association done in order to maintain benefit levels?

  • For two contracts in a row maintaining benefit levels has been the number one priority. The Association has agreed to accept lower salary increases as a trade of for maintaining benefits.

  • Also, the Association has showed the District how to reduce expenses.

4---->Could the current labor dispute have long term effects on the District and what has the opposite side of the table said about the ongoing crisis?

  • In a word, YES, the very best and brightest will not apply to Abington Heights if current demographic information is correct.

  • Research says that young teachers want good contracts, labor peace, and a say in day-to-day operations of their jobs.

  • When asked about these demographics a District official said,"I'm not worried. We're still riding on our reputation."

5---->In summary, what has the Association done to lower costs and maintain current health benefit levels?

  • The Association has offered alternative cost saving plans (all refused).

  • The Association has moved to lower cost insurance programs AND accepted lower salary increases to maintain benefit levels.

This is not about money. Money is the excuse.
