Hope does spring eternal.

A doctor told me I was unlikely to conceive. I refused to believe I could not conceive without medication...

Albert and I were trekking around Asia in March of 1998. Our first stop was Hong Kong. For months, excitement mounted for the both of us. He looked forward to seeing the relatives he had left behind. I looked forward to meeting them and visiting a place I had heard so much about.

The flight from New York was long and we were both tired from the journey. I was never able to shake that initial jet lag. I met his relatives but felt disturbingly lethargic. Everytime they tried to lure me with good food, I just could not bring myself to eat it.

Our next stop was Thailand. We took a bus tour. I felt increasingly nauseous and had an uncharacteristic lack of appetite. I attributed it to motion sickness.

We continued on to Taiwan. Albert got sick and threw up. I felt sick as well. Since Albert threw up, I thought we had food poisoning. We travelled around Taiwan to see all my relatives and by this time I was exhausted and miserable. It got so that I could not even look at food without feeling ill. I did alot of dry heaving.

I could not wait to get back home. I thought I was nauseous because I was not used to the food abroad. Needless to say, there was a happy ending to this story. I remained nauseous in New York and by then I realized there was more to the nausea than food. I went to see the doctor and heard the great news. We were going to have a baby!! Hope springs eternal...

Is it a boy or girl?
