My
Burnell research is rather small and has certainly not
progressed as much as the rest of my family tree has. The
last Burnell in my family was my Great Grandmother - Daisy
Burnell, b. 1886 somewhere in London.
She was one of six children of George Burnell
and Mary Ann Barker b. 1858. George
apparently worked as a Publican in London but unfortunately I
have no records that mention him apart from a baptism record
of his last two children which notes him as deceased. During
1891, it would appear that the Burnell family move from London
to Littleport,
Cambridgeshire. I am not really
sure if the family came to Littleport before or after George
Burnell's death. I only have record of his wife with their
children. It is also noted in their baptism records that he
worked as a Coachman. I have searched burial records and
written to the Ely Registrar many times but have had no luck in
tracing George. The Registrar has told me that George did not
die in that district so I can only assume that he died whilst
working or visiting someone. I have
a feeling that the family came to Littleport after
George's death as I believe that Mary Ann Burnell's (ne้
Barker) family were from the area.
