  1. Use not more than two yards of challenge fabric. Any amount of other fabric can be used with it. There must be a recognizable amount of the selected print. Challenge categories include, Applique Quilt, Pieced Quilt, Mixed Technique Quilts, Cloth Doll and Clothing.
  2. Quilt has to be a minimum of 72" (18" x 18" equals 72" total four sides) and not to exceed 160 inches (total measurement of all sides, i.e., a 40" x 40" entry totals 160" or any combination). It can be any shape. Doll (cloth only) size between 8" and 24" in height. Clothing, any size. Accessories welcome with garment, but not alone.
  3. Judging emphasis is on creative use of a recognizable amount of Hoffman Challenge Fabric as it relates to other fabrics used, visual impact and workmanship.
  4. Add a 4-inch sleeve to the top back for handing. Or, appropriate base or hanging device for dolls (non-breakable).
  5. Only one entry per person. Entry must be clean or it will be returned immediately. Do not ass potpourri, sachets or any other fragrances to your entry as many people are allergic to these.
  6. The same full name and address needs to be on the piece and on the entry form; be sure of hyphen usage. Identify quilt on bottom, back corner with your name, address and title of entry securely fastened. Multiple clothing pieces must be identified on each piece of ensemble on inside of garment. Identify doll for viewing all the way around. Identifying label must be readily visible, yet not on outer edge of garment or doll. Iron-on does not hold sufficiently and is not acceptable.
  7. When designing your entry (including dolls), remember it may be part of a collection and shipped to shows throughout the year and it must be able to be packed compactly. Non breakable props for dolls should be well attached. Each doll is put in a plastic bag before assing to shipping case. Special packing instructions cannot be followed.
  8. Your entry must be received by Betty Boyink,1911 West Wilson, Batavia, IL 60510 no later than August 21, 1998. No late entries will be accepted. Please, no large shipping containers as they create storage problems.
  9. Entries will be selected for a traveling exhibit during 1998-1999. Therefore, we must keep the selected entries for over a year. Those not selected for the traveling exhibit will be returned in the Fall of 1998.
  10. A $10.00 entry fee is to accompany the official signed entry form when you send your entry. This fee is to help with costs for returning entries and for informational correspondence. Foreign entries please send $20.00.
  11. Include entry form and fee in shipping carton.
