~IN MEMORY OF STEVE~
Steve was killed in the line of duty Thanksgiving Day, November26, 1981. He was responding to "man with gun call". The "man" shot and killed Steve as he exited his Police vehicle. Two other Police officers were wounded. The remaining officers returned fire and the defendent was killed. Steve was a friend and partner, he gave his life for the city he protected. The hardest thing I have ever done is bury Steve, he wasn't just some cop, he was a friend. He is still missed.

Steve

We bury one of ours...
Written and Held for a Lost Friend
STEVE
He is gone, ripped away.
Taken by an old fool, with nothing left to live for,
but afraid to end his own
So he takes ours...
Rage erupts around me,
blinding rage, that takes so much away.
Would rather be empty, than filled with rage.
Explosions erupt...empty time.
Both are gone, one a friend, the other an emptly fool
He walked with a smile, a lending hand
Laughter was his friend
Quick to help,slow to forsake
Never to forget..
Promises made, promises kept
A true friend missed
Another empty ache to bury..
We will join to Patrol another day@1981 Charles E.Collins
It is now November 26, 1998. Many years have passed, time has softened the memories, but my friend is still missed and remimbered.
