Hi, I like your rescue pages. I have a rescue dog named Lady from the Doberman Rescue League of Billerica MA. USA. We also have Duke who we bought as a pup. We lost Zeus on January 11,2000 to the Rainbow Bridge due to CVI a Doberman Disease. My family and I have been owned by two Dobermans. The first, Ben a bl/tan - we rescued from a local kennels. He was totally neurotic from living in at least four previous homes (he was only 18 mos old at the time) and at first I have to admit we really wo dered just what we had taken on. For the first few months we had him, he constantly chewed himself on his back leg with eventually with time and a lot of love and patience, I'm glad to say he sorted himself out (tho he did get frustrated at times and reve ted to his 'nail biting habits'). We loved him dearly and were totally devasted when he died of kidney failure at the age of 11. Before he passed to the big dog kennel in the sky, we bought a bitch pup - Megan. Another bl/tan - she has been adorable from he moment she chose us. Okay - she does have her moments - even now at the age of 12. My dream is to be able to bring another Dobie into our home - hopefully a rescue again since our lovely breed seems to be so misunderstood by Joe public. Perhaps you could give me some local addresses I might be able to contact (we live in Essex). Eternally grateful - and thanks for a wonderful web site.

I came across your page while carring out a search to a question. How can I stop my Doberman pulling on the lead? Perhaps someone has an answer. For what it is worth I have tried a halti and this has proved unsuccessful. Shelby, is two years old and came to us as a rescue dog. She is crazy but lovely. If only we could stop her pulling on the lead her and our lives would be so much nicer.... My other Dobermann is called Sam and has just past his 15th Birthday. Unfortunately, he is suffering from a heart condition which at best may give him a few more months. He saw me through some of the most difficult times of my live and I honestly feel wi hout him I may not have have been here today, his loyalty knows no bounds! I love both my dogs and I think that your webpage is a wonderful tribute to a wonderful dog. Out of interest does anyone know what the oldest record is of a Doberman living is?

I have just taken in two rescued puppies that can't be much over 6 weeks if even that. I am doing this for a shelter that has just raided a puppy mill in Ohio. These two babies are in bad health due to lack of food. But in time I will change that. They ar still playfull though. I am wanting to know all that I can about the breed so that I can help them more. So please email me any and all info. As soon as the court system lets go of all the dogs/puppies I will be looking for homes for them. No, I am not j st looking for ANY ol' home either. I would be willing at that time to turn them over to a rescue group too. But until then I want some help with them. I want to be able to do them the right way. I have Pugs, French Bulldogs and one Jack Russell Terrier.. on yeah... and two cats. So they will be very socialized.

Karmy is a healthy,spayed female. She is a Blue Dobie. She is 4yrs old. She is loving & protective but not in an violent or aggressive manner. You know..Big bark & then run to the owner for mutual protection. Due to physical problems my wife and I are not giving her the excercise she needs. She is very lively & precocious. She is spoiled and demands lots of attention. I see her as an ideal companion for an apartment dwelling female that wants a close friend. She is an adults dog. Unfortunately I lost my old fella on the 12th November 1998 at the age of 13 years and 2 months. Zeus was a black and tan full male who came to me from a bad home at the age of 4. I only intended finding him a home but after a day I could not let him go as he had adopted me. He never had a bad thought in his head and never harmed another living creature, a very affectionate and gentle soul. He has left a big hole in my life but I have many fond memories of the years we shared. I'll never forget him. This is the first time I have seen your site and I am mightily impressed. At first she was very difficult as she was very boisterous and very easily exited but I have been attending obedience classes for a year and a half and she is now very well behaved and a pleasure to live with. It goes to show that a little bit of hard work pays off. I am a member of the Scottish Dobermann Club and although I d not attend many Championship Shows I do show her at lots of Open Shows in which I have done fairly well.
