THE FIRE STATION

This month's field trip was at a fire station in the city of Denver. Some of us met at the church and some met at the fire station. Altogether we were 7 moms and 25 children.

The tour was approximately 1 hour long. There was a new recruit that did the first half of the tour. She was very informative and very friendly. Within the first 10 minutes of the tour, they received a call and had to leave. There was a child at a daycare center that had trouble breathing. As they rushed to put their uniforms on, turned on their lights and sirens, they rushed out and said, "We'll be back!" We explained to our kids that this was the real thing.

When they returned we were shown different parts of the fire engine and how it operated. Then we were all led into their kitchen and they explained their work hours. They worked 24 hrs on and 24 off. We also got to see how they washed the trucks and where they slept.

I took a lot of pictures for our HS album. When the tour was over, most of us walked to a nearby Taco Bell for lunch.

Check out March's field trip!
