This goes out to my sister, Melanie. If it weren't for her, you wouldn't be visiting my home page. That's because there wouldn't be one!! HAHAHA Back in March 1997, her and her husband started their family home page. Read about how she got started.... how Mel got started .
I slowly watched her home page develop into one of the most wonderful home pages I have ever seen! To see what I mean, take a few moments out to visit The Tate Family Home Page .
She encouraged me to do one and I couldn't imagine where I would have the time. I decided to start one the week my husband went to Iowa in June. This way it would give me lots of time to get a good start.
Lo and behold, a whole week and a half went by after I had submitted for a house and I still hadn't even gotten my password. I ended up submitting for a house 3x. Different addresses, that is.
Mel offered to write her Community Leader to help me out. I, in turn, wrote mine. Within a few days, I received a house! I was ecstatic!! But from who's CL do you suppose? Not mine, hers.
Then the ideas started coming for my new home page. Yet I didn't know how to get them from my head onto the computer. Melanie was there every step of the way. She gave me tips, helpful hints, suggestions. She even started my index page to get me going. And she also linked me immediately to her home page. "Yikes!", I thought, "There's hardly anything on there yet!"
I had tons of questions for her. I slowly started learning the basics....still have a long ways to go. Next were the graphics. She showed me how to find them. I was finally able to get "view source" because of an update I received and she showed me how to use it.
My next problem was uploading. I don't have an FTP program to allow me to upload so after I download, I send them to her to upload. I send them thru e-mail, one at a time because I don't know any other way. Hopefully by now, I will be able to upload myself (I've been able to upload with netscape since Nov. 97). She has been so patient with me and always there helping me. Always such an encouragement! =)
Mel, what would I have done without ALL your help? You're the best!!
Love, your sister
P.S. By the way Mel, I was wondering if you could help me with another problem I have....... =)
