Asa Ayres to John Fosdick.
To all people to whom these presents shall come Greetings.
Know Ye, that we Asa Ayres, and Mary Ayres wife of the said Asa of the township of Kirt=
land County of Geauga and State of Ohio for the consideration of the sum of two hun=
dred and seventy dollars, received to our full satisfaction of John Fosdick of the town
of Chester County of Geauga, and State of Ohio, do give, grant, bargain, sell and con
firm unto him the said John Fosdick his heirs and assigns the following described
tract or lot of land situate in Chester, township number Eight in the ninth range
of townships in the Connecticut Western Reserve in the State of Ohio, and which is
also in the County of Geauga, and is known by being part of lot number five in tract
two, and is bounded as follows,viz - Beginning at the north-west corner of said lot
;thence south, thirty three rods, and two thirds, thence East two degrees north, one hun-
dred and severn rods; thence north 2’ west thirty three rods and two thirds to the
north line of said lot; thence west to the first mentioned corner, and containing twen
ty two acres and a half of land, by the same more or less. To have and to hold the
above granted and bargained premises with the appurtenances thereof, unto him
the said John Fosdick his heirs and assigns forever to his own proper use and behoof.

And I also the said Asa Ayres, do for myself my heirs, executors and administrators
covenant with the said John Fosdick his heirs and assigns, that at and until the in
sealing of these presents I am well seized of these premises as a good indefeasible estate
in fee simple and have good right to bargain and sell the same in manner and
form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatsoever
And furthermore we the said Asa Ayres and Mary Ayres do, by these presents bind
ourselves, our heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargained
premises to him the said John Fosdick his heirs and assigns against all lawful
claims and demands whatsoever. -- And I the said Mary Ayres do hereby remise
release and forever quit claim unto the said John Fosdick his heirs and assigns all
my right and title of dower in the above described premises. In witnes whereof we
have hereunto set our hands and seals this twenty eighth day of October A.D. one
thousand Eight hundred and twenty eight.--

Geauga County ) Personally appeared Asa Ayres the signer and sealer of the above
instrument, and acknowledged the same to be his free act and deed.
Also personally appeared Mary Ayres one of the signers of the above deed; And I having
fully made known and explained to the said Mary Ayres the contents of the above
deed, and having likewise examined her seperate and apart from her said husband
she declared that she did with her own free will and accord, sign and seal
and as her act and deed deliver the same without the force coercion or compul-
sion of her said husband, before me. Josiah Jones Justice Peace.

Notes:
Page #417 seems to have been skipped when the deeds were recorded so that this
deed was recorded at the bottom of page 416 and completed at the top of page 418. A
new deed began at the bottom of page 418.
The deeds received from the land records office were xeroxed onto large, oversize,
metalic type paper - never seen anything like it before.
The recorder used old style writing for some of his words - for examples “assigns” looks like
“apigns” and “less” looks like “lep” - however, the “p” or sometimes "f" is really representative
of an "s" or double “ss.”
