L. F. WAIT - Marriage License Application

For Buenos AYRES & Sarah OSBORN

Kirtland, Geauga Co., OH

29 August 1833

This license was obtained from research by M. K. Zimmer, Jr.
Marriage Licenses 1829-1833
Probably - Chardon, OH
July 1992

Marriage Notes:

Sarah OSBORN was born 2 Sept. 1816, according family records. When she
wanted to get married, she was still age 16; a few days short of her 17th birthday.
Sarah OSBORN was daughter of Ransom OSBORN & Sarah HURD. I have
not figured out where the parents were living at this time ... possibly in
Hicksville, Williams Co., OH?? I'll have to check my records and get back on
this point. At some point, both Ransom & Sarah OSBORN as well as Buenos
& Sarah AYRES lived at the same time in Hicksville, OH.

It seems by this application for marriage license that the legal age to marry in OH
for ladies in 1833 was age 18 and for men age 21.
Sarah had to have special permission granted by her parents to be married.

Also according to family records, Buenos AYRES was born 17 Jan 1810, so
he would have been age 23 years & 7 months when the marriage license
was applied for by L. F. WAIT.
