In Need of Praise...

All children seek and need the loving praise of their parents. This poem reminds me of my own needs, as a Christian mother, to speak kindly and lovingly to my children. I thought I would share it with you...

~What House Do We Live In?~

"I got two A's," the small boy cried.
His voice was filled with glee.
But his Father carelessly asked,
"Why didn't you get three?"

"Mom, I've got the dishes done!"
The girl called from the door.
Her Mother very calmly said,
"And did you sweep the floor?"

"I've mowed the grass," the big boy said,
"And put the mower away!"
His Father asked him, with a frown,
"Did you hose off that dirty clay?"

The children in the house next door,
seem so happy and content.
The same things happened to them, too,
But this is how it went...

"I got two A's," the small boy cried.
His voice was filled with glee.
His Father proudly said, "That's great!"
"I'm so glad you're here with me!"

"Mom, I've got the dishes done!"
The girl called from the door.
Her Mother smiled and softly said,
"Each day I love you more!"

"I've mowed the grass," the big boy said,
"And put the mower away!"
His father smiled with happiness,
"You've made my work easier today!"

Children deserve a little praise
For the tasks they do each day.
If they're to lead a happy life
It's so important what you say!
