The following are directions for a simple wheat weaving craft:
Wheat Weaving Heart

There are some simple braids that can be done in a few minutes that might work, almost any braid will work but most children know how to do a hair braid.

Take 2 x 9 medium thickness straws with nice looking heads and soak them for at least 1/2 hour in warm water. Tie 9 straws together under the heads. Braid a hair braid with 3 straws in each bundle, 5" long. Hold together with a clothes pin. Repeat with the other 9 straws. Place side by side and tie the 2 braids together when the braiding stops and again 2 1/2" down on the unbraided stem. Let the braids arch to each side and cross the heads over each other on top of the tie under the unbraided stem; tie over 3 ties. You should have a nice looking little heart that will look very nice on the Christmas tree.
