Father, I long to know you in a new and special way.
In you is the wisdom of all the ages,
without the distortions or prejudices of our world.
You are the author of all
history and the creator of the universe.
I listen to hear your quiet voice
over the well-meaning advice of others,
for you speak absolute truth and knowledge.
May my eyes and
ears be opened to see and hear only you.
In you there is no doubt or confusion.
Father, I seek your face and the glory that surrounds you.
I long for the warmth of your touch, the strength of your arms
holding me near to provide comfort and shelter.
The only love I need is from you,
for it is the only consistent, unwavering love
I can ever
hope to experience.
I can call on you at any time, for any reason,
and you are never beyond my reach or too busy.
You are always ready to provide what I need, even before
I need it.
There is nothing too big or too small for you.
Father, my only true strength comes from you.
Stubbornness and pride, disguised as strength,
have often led me down the wrong path, leading to disaster.
Fear has often been my guide.
I want to give my life back to you to control.
Only you can avert the dangers that lie ahead.
Alone, I would face the future with hopelessness.
There is no reason for being other than to know you.
All else is temporal and futile.
Father, help me to wake up to each new day
renewed in my faith in you,
anticipating the wonders that you will accomplish that day.
Let me seek to know you better,
and in doing so, become more like you.
Give me a joy that knows no boundaries
and let my countenance be a reflection of you.
