God Is in Unexpected Places

Unexpected Places

In some unexpected places
I found the Lord today,
And the lesson I had needed,
Branded on my heart to stay.
For I saw Him on a garbage truck,
Within the driver’s smile,
In a clinic filled with dying,
He was mopping up an aisle.

I saw Him pumping gasoline,
When I refilled my tank,
Cashiering at the grocery store,
And working in a bank.
I saw Him pouring cement,
And measuring a beam,
In the most unlikely places,
I found God it would seem.

The more I looked, the more I found
That He was everyplace,
In the youngest and the oldest,
In the lightest, darkest face.
And to be sure that I never
Accidentally pass Him by,
I must remember it is God
...That man is patterned by.
