Amanda- 2nd grade
Math- Arithmetic 2-A Beka
2 pages a day and covers a lot, but colorful- I like it!
Phonics- Letters & Sounds 2- A Beka
I got the old edition to save money(black and white) been more of a struggle to keep her interest but fits in with other subjects( one page a day)
Language- Language 2- A Beka
She loves this. Very easy, Capitalization, punctuation, writing stories. It is colorful and fun.(one page a day)
Writing- Writing with Phonics 1- A Beka
This particular book is in cursive- you do have a choice. Ended up being too much last year so we started into it again in the 2nd half of the year
Bible- KJV Bible, Bible Nurture Series 1, Wee Lambs, assorted materials
We are going through Genesis a chapter a day 4 days a week (yes some days it doesn't happen!) Amanda then writes down her summary of the chapter in a special notebook. Wee Lambs is once a week. The other book (BJ) is every day and although good
a little young for my kids and what they have been exposed to, but it is supplementary.
Art- Art Projects 2- A Beka
Ok I am horrible at keeping up in art(agg)
History- Our America- A Beka Heritage Studies- Bob Jones
Both children are doing this and I read it to them. We enjoy it.I do it only half the year.
Science- for grade 2- Bob Jones
This is for the 2nd half of the year and we just got there. Need to get that book out!
Reading- A Beka readers
Hmm! Some I really like, some I have to skip the last several stories because they are too magical for my liking. Personally I like the ones that are modern MacGuffy(Open Roads, Open Doors)
and also like Pilgrim Boy that she is reading right now. The last is a chapter book and she does a chapter a day. She reads every other page with me. She loves reading. (We are also doing Book-it).
Health- Health Manners 2- A Beka
Ok book we do it once a week together.
Music- Baptist hymnal
One verse of one hymn a week unto we get through the hymn. We always begin with To God Be the Glory each year.
Poetry- Spelling and poetry 2- A Beka
Hit and miss with her poetry- hasn't been top priority but we do do it sometimes.
Spelling, cooking, history, character traits- Unit Study- Little House in the Big Woods- Mile Hi Publishers
Great in the beginning but a little overwelming for a young 2nd grader(she would be in 1st). We ended up switching to A Beka spelling and have been doing 2 tests a week to catch up. We are almost caught up:(.Doing some with this through out the year. Not as excitng as I originally anticipated because frankly it is just more work on top of everything else:(.
Christopher- Kindergarten
Mathematics- Sound & Count- A Beka
Phonics- Sound & Count, Book 1-10 (K4)- A Beka
We like Sound and Count. He starts with a K-4 10 books and then moved into it. He is reading all short vowel sound words now and seems to have caught on to long vowel ones. He just turned 5 last month. With Math he is adding and counting by ten. Telling time starts right off.
Writing- Writing with Phonics K- A Beka
ok, problem with startng my children early is their writing is not as mature as it would be but the book is good.
Bible- KJV Bible, Bible Nurture Series 1, Wee Lambs, assorted materials
