He attended the public schools of Charleston. He graduated from Charles A. Brown High School; Duke University, Durham, NC where he earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion; the University of Missouri, Columbia, MO where he earned the Master of Business Administration degree in Quantitative Analysis; and United Theological Seminary, Dayton, OH where he earned both the Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry degrees in Theology. His doctoral thesis and book are entitled Stewardship and Discipleship Development In The American Church. His mentor was Dr. Edward L. Wheeler, President of Chrisitian Theological Seminary, Indianapolis, IN.
Dr. Ferguson is an ordained minister with over 16 years in the ministry and nine years in the pastorate. He was a youth pastor in Dayton, OH. He has been an associate minister in Washington, DC; Dayton, OH; and Arlington, TX. He is the founder and pastor of Christ Creative Baptist Church, Capitol Heights, MD.
He has been a United States Air Force Officer, a United States Army Reserve Chaplain, and has been employed by several private companies to include Booz-Allen Hamilton, Inc., a major international consulting firm. He is presently the President and Chief Executive Officer of his own business, Ferguson and Associates, a professional contract consulting firm headquartered in Upper Marlboro, MD. His firm has a multi-year contract with the United States Postal Service. He is a Certified Professional Contract Manager. He is married to the former Pauline Boldin, has two children (George, Jr. and Candice), and lives in Upper Marlboro, MD.
Dr. Ferguson has mentored several candidates for the doctor of ministry degree at United Theological Seminary. He has written several religious articles that have appeared in The Washington Post and The Prince George's Journal.
His favorite verse is Isaiah 40:31, "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint." THE GREATEST THING IN HIS LIFE IS BEING A CHILD OF GOD.
