HOW TO BE SAVED AND BECOME A CHRISTIAN

How To Be Saved And Become A Christian

A Christian is a person who personally believes in Jesus Christ as his or her Savior and Lord. The word Christian means "Christ like." A Christian has a relationship with Jesus Christ.

God made you for Himself and your soul is restless until you find rest in Him. Only God can fill the void in your life. The answer to the restlessness in your sin sick soul is to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior. To become a Christian, you need to know the following basic truths.

1. God Loves Us

Because God loves everybody, He desires that we have a relationship with Him.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believeth on Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 (KJV)) "

"But God commendeth His love toward us in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8))"

2. We Are Sinners

Every individual on the earth is a sinner. A sinner is anyone who disobeys the will of God. A sinner commits sin and sinning is choosing to go your own way and to do your own thing without God. A sinner is disobedient to God. We are all sinners.

"As it is written: There is none righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3:10 (KJV))"

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23 (KJV))"

3. Sin Separates Us From God

Sin causes a separation that prevents you from entering into a relationship with God. Without God in your life, you are headed for an eternity separated from God when you die in a place called "Hell".

"But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, that He will not hear. (Isaiah 59:2 (KJV))"

"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Lord. (Romans 6:23(KJV))"

4. We Cannot Save Ourselves

Most people think that through their own efforts they can overcome the sin barrier between themselves and God. This is not true. There is nothing we can do of ourselves to restore the broken relationship with God. We cannot earn God's salvation.

"For by grace are you saved, through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God - not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9(KJV))"

"Not of works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost. (Titus 3:5(KJV))"

5. God Sent His Son Jesus To Remove Our Sin Barrier

By dying on the Cross, God's son, Jesus Christ, removed the sin barrier between us and God. Jesus died for our sins, taking the punishment we deserved on Himself as He died on an old rugged Cross. Through His Son Jesus Christ, God did for us what we could not do for ourselves. God hates the sin but He loves the sinner.

"Who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed. (1 Peter 2:24(KJV))"

"For He hath made Him, who knew no sin, to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. (2 Corinthians 5:21(KJV))"

6. We Enter Into A Relationship With God Only Through Faith In Jesus Christ

Faith is trusting Jesus and believing that what He did on the Cross for us secured our salvation and restored our relationship with God the Father. Faith is complete reliance on Christ to put us in right relationship with God. Faith is allowing Jesus to live His life through us. Faith involves repentance and genuine sorrow for our sin and the willingness to turn away from our sin.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrew 11:1(KJV))" "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father but by me. (John 14:6 (KJV))"

"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man, Christ Jesus. (1 Timothy 2:5(KJV))."

"Neither is there salvation in any other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. (Acts 4:12 (KJV))"

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31(KJV))"

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10(KJV))"

"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be save. (Romans 10:13 (KJV))"

7. Through Prayer (Talking With God) We Can Trust in Jesus Christ

If you are sincere and are ready to accept Jesus Christ right now as your Savior and Lord, pray this simple prayer from your heart:

Father,

Your Word says You love me so much that You sent Your only begotten Son, Jesus, to die for my sin so I could live with you forever. Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner. I need forgiveness. I believe YOU are the Son of God and that you died on the Cross for MY sins. Forgive me now Lord and cleanse me. Come into my heart and give me a new life. I open my heart to you and receive you as my Savior and as the Lord of my life. Thank You Jesus for hearing and answering my prayer and for giving me a brand new life.

In Jesus name I pray.

Amen.

Congratulations!

If you prayed that prayer from your heart, you now are born again. You now are born of the Spirit. You are now sealed until the day of redemption. You now have the Holy Ghost in your heart! You now have Jesus in your heart! You now have God the Father in your heart! You are now a new creature in Christ Jesus! You now are going to heaven! Salvation is a one time event where the foundation of Jesus Christ is laid in your heart through faith in Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 3:11).
