An energetic cat with a loud purr.

The ad said " Blue point Siamese kittens for sale ". It didn't take us long to make a phone call, then drive over to see them. At 4 weeks they were adorable. A deposit held a male and 2 weeks later we were taking him home. I named him Oskar.

Looking for trouble.

He got into everything. The dog wanted to kill him and our other cat chased him, usually right into the dog. Complete bedlam ensued. It was clear if Oskar was to survive other arrangements had to be made. So our large spare bathroom became Oskar's home. It was made kitten proof. His litter box and sleeping box was installed along with a water and food dish. He was visited early every morning and picked up and held and petted. He also had 5 play periods where he was taken downstairs so he could run and play safely under supervision. It was like running a day care center!

Oskar thrived with all the personal attention he got and when he was alone he slept or chewed the plants in the planter that we could not remove from the bathroom. I figured that at about the time he was 8 or 9 months old he would be able to fend for himself. Then my older daughter had a motorcycle accident. Her leg was badly hurt and she couldn't stay by herself on crutches so she was to stay with us for 6 weeks. Now we needed that bathroom!

Oskar made his debut at 7 months. He was out of the room for good and fend for himself he did. Quite well I might say.

He was a curious kitten. Poking his nose into corners and behind chairs or doors to see what was there. During the Olympics he discovered TV.

Oskar adopted my husband. It was in his lap that the cat decided was the perfect place to take a nap. Although anyplace that looks comfortable will do. Oskar can sleep just about anywhere.

Oskar has come a long way from that poor defenseless kitten. He now runs the house. Luckily Bristol, the dog, and Oskar get on well. Bristol likes cats and tries to be friends with Oskar. Oskar on the other hand teases Bristol every chance he gets. Yet there are times when you will find them sleeping in the same sun patch or sharing the space on the futon. They are quite a pair ....

At the present Oskar seems at a loss. He sits alone in the sun patch and waits for Bristol to come into view. He realizes that something is missing. Occassionally he will look out of the large glass door into the yard. We call him and talk to him and in time I'm sure he will go back to being Oskar.
