Supplies Needed

Paper egg carton (styrofoam does not work)
    Black crayon
    Three black pipe cleaners
    Wire cutters
    Scissors
    Glue
    Wiggly eyes

Use the scissors to cut one section from the egg carton. Trim the excess so the bottom is as round as possible. Take the crayon and color the carton black (the darker you color it the better it looks). Take the wires cutter and cut each pipe cleaner into three equal sized pieces. Use the tip of the scissors OR a pencil to poke four small holes on each side of the egg carton. Make the holes as small as possible. Mom or Dad might need to help you with this part. Now poke the pipe cleaners into the holes and push them in a little bit. Bend it over on the inside, and then bend on the outside in the middle so it makes an upside-down V. Repeat with all eight legs. Glue on the wiggly eyes.

Boo Pops

Supplies Needed

White fabric or tissue squares, about 8" by 8" (a piece of facial tissue works just fine -- we trim it with pinking shears for effect)
Lollipop (any kind will do, but we use Tootsie pops)
    Black construction paper
    Paper punch
    Glue
    Black or orange curling ribbon
    Scissors

Place the lollipop in the center of the white square and fold it over diagonally so the top and bottom corners meet. Gather all the fabric (or tissue) around the stick, so the lollipop is completely covered. Cut a piece of curling ribbon about 12 inches long, and tie it in a knot around the base of the lollipop. Straighten out the white part so it is pretty even on both sides. Curl the ribbon. Use the paper punch to punch out one hole from the contruction paper. Cut the punched out hole in half and glue on for eyes.

Cheesecloth Ghosts

Supplies Needed (some parent help needed, depending on age)

    Cheesecloth
    Empty spray bottle
    White glue
    Waxed paper
    Scissors
    Ball or crumpled newspaper
Cans or bottles of different heights

Protect your work surface using newspapers, or work outside if weather permits. Mix together one part white glue with one part water and put in spray bottle (thin more if needed to work in sprayer). Place ball or crumpled newspaper on top of bottle or can to make the form for the ghost's head. If you use newspaper, cover it with a plastic sandwich bag. Place this on top of a piece of waxed paper. Cut cheesecloth large enough to drape over bottle and reach tabletop. Tuck in a few folds and drape neatly. You can used more than one layer of cheesecloth, if desired. Once arranged the way you want it, spray the ghost with the glue and water mixture until it is saturated. Re-arrange if necessary. Allow to dry completely (overnight is preferred) and very carefully remove from the form. If it "breaks" when removing it, prop up and re-spray. Place a number of different sized ghosts together. These look great with indirect lights (for example in window with white Christmas lights around them and all other lights turned off).
