Cynthia had a child from a previous marriage? named William Porter SEVERS, whose father was George KINKADE, Any information on George KINCADE (KINCAID)? also would be appriciated. I believe he was a circuit minister, and arranged Cynthia's marriage to Severs when he found out she was pregnant. It is possible that they were married, making her Cynthia Barnett Kincade Severs. I am researching my Muhlenberg County Kentucky lines whom are descendants of THOMAS H. HOLLAND b 1806- d 1884 and ELIZABETH DUKES b 1812- d 1883. Their son, my gggrandfather, JOSEPH R. HOLLAND b 1851 married ANNIE W. GRADDY November 27, 1873, according to the Muhlenberg CO marriage book 9, page 159 (would like to have a copy). My biggest problem with this side of the family is tracing ANNIE W. GRADDY's lineage. Rumour has it that she was American Indian but I have been unable to determine this for certain. I would be willing to share information on my 1000+ family line which includes the Muhlenberg CO., surnames: BLANKENSHIP, DUKES, DORRIS, HUMPHREY, RAGER, MASON, & WHITEHOUSE, among others. And, by the way, in reading the request lists, I realized that many researchers are following Muhlenberg roots that lead into Illinois, like my own do. Is this coincidence, or was there a reason for this seemingly mass "migration"? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This isn't a query, but may be interesting to someone working on the
HAMM family. In the late 1960's I was in Muhlenburg County with my
grandparents. We were visiting an elderly Mr. Hamm and his sister in
Paradise. He showed me the Hamm family Bible which had lots of data in
it. I copied the births and deaths. The Bible was printed in German
script. The next day I saw several of their gravestones in the Hamm
Cemetery. Here they are:

Matthew Hamm Sept. 26, 1774-Aug. 30, 1843
Mary Hamm	July 19, 1776-Aug.10, 1852
Susannah Hamm July 10, 1796-Aug. 24, 1869
Barbara Hamm Aug. 20, 1798-
David Hamm Apr. 17, 1800-April 1818
Elizabeth Hamm Sept. 27, 1802-
Mary Hamm Aug. 10, 1804-
John B. Hamm Sept. 18, 1806-April 1809
Jacob Hamm Jan. 2, 1809-Nov. 2, 1860
Catherine Hamm Dec. 3, 1810-Aug. 3, 1837
Ruth Hamm Dec. 31, 1812-Oct. 15, 1855
Hannah Hamm Nov. 30, 1814-Aug. 23, 1875
Margaret Hamm Aug. 1, 1819-

My father helped tear down the Matthew Hamm house in Muhlenburg County.
They kept the keystone from the stone fireplace. It is now in
possession of Hamm descendants in Tarrant County, Texas. Hope this
interests someone. Mike Patterson, Colleyville, Texas.

James Madison WILKERSON married Hattie Elizabeth LILE. Hattie was born December 9, 1856, the daughter of William LILE. Her mother's name is unknown. Hattie WILKERSON died September 25, 1934, in Belton, where she had lived since 1914, and is buried in Hazel Creek Cemetery.

Martha E. (Ellen) Vaught appears on census with her parents Thomas Foster Vaught and Altha Amanda Howerton Vaught (1850 and 1860 census).

For years we presumed Martha was nee Washburn. We 1st found her married to Harrison McGowan in Ind and next my ggg-grandfather also in Ind. However, on a recent 10day genealogy trip to Ind I obtained her death certificate (of 1915) and learn her true surname...as well as get her fathers death certificate ...also from Ind. instead of Ky. guess Thomas Vaught moved between 1860-1890...Thomas Vaught died in 1901.

Martha married a (first name ukn) Washburn someplace, Ky or Ind.! We could not find marriage license in Ind. so after learning she was from Ky maybe she married shortly after 1860 census because she next appears on 1870 census in Gibson Co. In.

We always were under assumption her maiden name was Washburn.

Does anyone have a connection here or is anyone close to Muhlenberg Gen. Society annex that could check info on their next trip up there?
