Angel's Tales From the Road

Part One

My first stop was in St. Louis at Betsy's house (she's also known as GryHndMom).

Here's some of what she wrote to my new Mom (so she could know I was really on my way to her and that I was o.k.)

July 11, 1998

I just wanted to let you know your sweet little baby is in my care this
week! I picked her up from Deb this morning at 7 in Columbia, MO, then
drove back to St. Louis, dropped off the dogs staying here, and the dog
going to Mississippi with Adrienne (including the 16 wk Keeshond Pups!) and
then drove onto Casey, IL with Todd, Betty, Ashley (the puppy) and Angel.
Turned Todd, Betty and Ashley over to Anita Clark (a CUR member I've been
meeting quite a bit recently! *grin) and then turned around and brought
Angel back with me again! (It's a shame too..cause that's where she's going
again NEXT week! Oh well, I get a week to spoil her shamelessly!!! *grin*)

After her rather long, stressful day, I am letting her relax quietly
by herself in the back room in the crate that will be hers for her stay. My
sweet Simbah keeps going back to "check" on her, Speedie tried to get her to
play in the yard, and Grimm wants her to learn the rules RIGHT NOW! *grin*
He's all bark tho - he loves the ladies! LOL Anyway, she'll get lots of
love and spoiling here...just have one question - my 3 sleep on the bed, and
are allowed on the couch etc....should I teach Angel this or not? She's
gonna see mine doing it, and she's definitely welcome if she wants up, but
if you don't want me to I won't encourage it. If she figures it out on her
own tho it would hardly be "fair" to tell her no when it's obviously
allowed!

Oh, and I have steps out the back, she wasn't sure about them, but came up
them just fine. I'll keep working on it with her, so if you have steps she
should do well by the time she gets to you. Only seems to take them a
couple of days to get it figured out! *grin*

BTW - she has the most gorgeous face and eyes!!! She is absolutely
beautiful!

Here's the message from Renee (July 14, 1998) keeping Mom posted:

Well to keep you up to date, Angel is now in Kentucky. She had a lucky
break to get to Nancy Kleck (Mike's new mom from Raymond and Mike) and
partially to Louisville to make her connection to OH. We are working
logistics now. Lord knows we're trying!!!

Uncle Jim is the one who helped me get to Kentucky

She was
a perfect lady on our ride from St. Louis to Lexington, Ky. Although, I rescue
Old English Sheepdogs it is not hard to see how sweet Greyhounds are. Best of
