The Adventures of Bo Peep's Sheep
by: Mary Jenkins Did you ever wonder how Little Bo Peep lost her sheep? The truth is, she didn't really lose them, they just wandered off when her back was turned. Being kept in a little tiny pasture and eating grass all day was very boring, so the day they discovered a break in the fence, the sheep decided to go exploring.

There first outing was to the city park. Each enjoyed the swings and raced to see who could go the highest. The merry-go-round made them dizzy, but they all laughed and giggled as they went round and round. The big high slide was the favorite of them all. Getting up the steps was an ackward chore, but the trip down was worth the work. None of them had ever been that high and the warm wind blowing in their faces was a fantasticfeeling. It was no wonder the sheep went home with their tails wagging behind them.
Their next journey was to the city. The many stores, passing cars and people scurrying around amazed them. The concrete sidewalks were hard on their tiny hooves, but they didn't mind. There were so many glorious sights to see. One of the buildings they visited had rows and rows of delightfully different candy, and the store keeper gave them each a sample. It was the most delicious food they had ever tasted. When they saw people entering a big red bus, they knew they had to get on too. Each stuck his head out a window and let the breeze rush past their wooly little heads. People waved and smiled a they passed, for seeing a bus full of happy excited sheep was a joyous sight to see. Once again, the sheep went home wagging their tails behind them.
The third time, they went into the woods behind Bo Peep's house. There, they met an assortment of small animals they had never seen before. The squirrels were friendly, but the black and white skunks ran off when they saw a herd of lambs coming towards them. The sheep made many friends, played all day and promised to return in the near future. There little tails were wagging as they walked home, but stopped when they say Bo Peep standing near the fence. On the ground by her feet lay a small box of nails. She held a hammer in her hand, and they watched sadly as she started to fix the broken fence.

Bo Peep loved her sheep and since they were able to leave the pasture, she didn't always know where to find them. As she mended the fence, she told them she would go with them on their adventures. Bo Peep could show them even more wonderful sights, and at the same time could make sure they were safe and have them home in time for dinner. All the sheep were very happy knowing they would take more adventures and eagerly went into the pasture to graze and talk of the fun they had that day.
