JENKINS, MURRAY - Nancy JENKINS was on the 1870 census for
Norfolk County, VA she was born about 1827-1829 in VA. She married W. H.
H. JENKINS (also spelled Jinkins) on April 1, 1850 in Gates County, NC. I
believe the W stands for William in her husband's name and one of the H's
stands for Harrison, so his name is William Harrison JENKINS, but he was
called Harrison JENKINS, he was born about 1820-1822 in VA. They had a son
named Joseph William JENKINS born about 1859-60 and he was born in Portsmouth,
VA. On the 1870 census for Norfolk County I also found Laura JENKINS age
8 (born about 1862) and Laura was listed living in an orphanage in the same
city of Norfolk as Nancy JENKINS. My grand mother told me before she died,
that my great great grand mother Nancy JENKINS put her children into an
orphanage, so this child Laura matches up with what I found on the census
for her. On Joseph W. JENKINS's 1926 obit for Portsmouth, VA it states that
Joseph was survived by a sister named Mrs. Laura MURRAY of Norfolk, VA and
that a John W. JENKINS was a pall bearer at Joseph's funeral. I am looking
for the parents of Harrison JENKINS, the parents of Laura Murray, the parents
of John W. JENKINS and any info that anyone has on my ancestors, and even
any suggestions about how to search for them in Norfolk County records in
Chesapeake courts. Thank you very much.

There was a Rev. Isaac SPANGLER whose name appeared in Norfolk newspapers
