Happy Holidays

Buy me this...I want that... Sound familiar? I'm constantly amazed by the amount of things that my kids can find that they just absolutely must have at Christmas. Cost isn't a factor to them. The fact that they already have more than many children out there doesn't faze them. Taking care of what you've already got...why bother? If it gets broken I'll just ask for a new one. Taking care of what you have and having some self respect is something that we're really working on this holiday season. Their idea of donating toys to the Valley Rescue Mission (something that Kim and I do every year) was to pull out the broken toys in their cubbies and box them up. Send something that I don't play with anymore but that's in good condition? Why would I want to give away a perfectly good toy? Was I that selfish as a child? Were we all? When was it that I learned what the real meaning of Christmas is? Seems like it was so long ago that I've forgotten.

Here's wishing you and yours the merriest Christmases of all!
