My G-G-G-Grandfather was John Frakes/Friggs, born 1750 along the Potomac River Valley, probably in Maryland or Virginia. He married a Elizabeth, born 1760. Family history says this Elizabeth was a Timberlake, but, I have never found any evidence of that. In checking your great Timberlake site, I found an Elizabeth Timberlake, born 1760, the daughter of Richard and Mary Timberlake. That Richard was born 19 Aug 1736. Do you have any data on the location(s) of this family? I'm looking for a location in that disputed area of Penn. Va. - now W. Va. - Maryland or the present day Kentucky.

Seeking information on JANE TIMBERLAKE, she is listed in the will of Nicholas GENTRY, filed at the Albermarle, April Court in 1779. She is listed as one of his granddaughters. Any information would be appreciated.

I have access to some family histories on POINDEXTER,STROTHER, and LAWSON lines. As you TIMBERLAKE researchers know, these are surnames of the wives of FRANCES III,( b.1758 ), WILLIAM, (b. 1811), and FRANCIS II, (b. 1712 ). Does anyone know the parents of NANCY POINDEXTER, and MARGARET "BARBARY" STROTHER? I would appreciate any help on this.

Seeking information on my Grandfather: JOHN TIMBERLAKE, b. Feb. 27, 1872, City of Richmond. (we have a copy of his birth certificate) It lists his father as Archer Timberlake, a laborer in Richmond. Mother Mary (Pearman/Pierman) Timberlake - she died when my grandfather was just 3 years old. Archer and Mary b. c. 1849, were married Nov. 22, 1866 in Richmond. She died about 1874/75. Archer moved to Chicago about 1883, died March 31, 1913. (he may have married again, possibly to Mary Conway?) We have a copy of death certificate for Archer Bolling Timberlake. He was born May 30, 1844 in Richmond, VA. He was a nail maker. Died March 31, 1913. Their children were Joseph, Dora, William & John, all born in Richmond) and went to Chicago with their father. Thanks to this list, David Timberlake (above) contacted me and told me that he had a handwritten family tree done by his grandfather. This tree has my gr-Grandfather Archer, his children including my grand-father John and even my father's older siblings. As it turns out our gr-grandfathers were brothers. Their parents were William Timberlake, b. 1803 in Caroline Co., VA and married on Nov. 11, 1833 in Caroline Co., to Margaret Young b. 1812. William's parents are Lewis and Harriett Timberlake. We would like to contact more descendants and also find information about the YOUNG family. (as an extra surprise, we recently exchanged photos - David's grandfather could be a twin to my father and the family resemblence to other family members is amazing!).

I am looking for any information on Henry and Mary Timberlake, both born in Tichfield, Hampshire, England, and he died in RI in 1680. Their daughter Elizabeth married John COGGESHALL of the RI family. Sorry, I don't have many dates.
I realize that this is a different family from the VA Timberlakes usually seen in these queries, but thought I would ask anyway. Perhaps a son of Henry slipped down the coast??

What became of two brothers, Richard and John Timberlake, both born in Bedford or Campbell Co., VA? Richard was born ca. 1780, and John was born ca. 1782. They were children of Charles and Mary (Criddle)Timberlake of Campbell Co., VA. Both Richard and John are mentioned in Mary Timberlake's will of December, 1824, so they were then still alive. They had two other brothers: Phillip Timberlake (1773-1842)went to Kentucky and then Shelby Co., Indiana. William King Timberlake (ca. 1775-1825) went to Belmont County, Ohio. But where did Richard and John go???

I am researching Timberlake families in area of Lynchburg, Campbell Co, VA who were members of the Society of Friends (Quakers). John Timberlake (b.2/1/1761) md.(3/7/1783)-Mary/Molly Lynch Johnson (b.6/22/1757) @South River Meeting. John was a son of Richard Timberlake and Sarah Dougherty. Molly's parents were Christopher Johnson and Elizabeth/Betty Moorman. I believe John had a brother, Philip, possibly one named William and one named Francis; others unknown. John and Molly had nine children: Elizabeth, Mary Ann, Richard, Agness, Christopher, John, Mourning, Sally, Judith. Allied VA families (all Quakers) included Candler, Clark, Adams, Anthony, Arthur, Wright, Collins, Lynch. Am particularly seeking identity of Richard's and Sarah's parents and their ancestors. Despite similarity of given names and a very viable DOB,there seems to be no really comfortable niche in the Francis I line where our Richard might fit in. This likelihood is onsiderably dimmed by the fact that the Quaker sect was strongly opposed to slavery, while there are numerous references to slave ownership among Francis I descendants. Could anyone provide more information re. Mary Adeline Timberlake who married John McCall (per listing in this site's "Alphabetical Timberlake Listing")? I have letters written to my G-grandmother in 1935 from Addie Timberlake McCall of Huntingdon, TN whose husband, John, had been a District Judge in Memphis (so says the letterhead she was using). She stated that she was descended from Richard and Sarah Timberlake through their son, Francis. The "Descendants of ...." list doesn't extend far enough to include her -- who were her parents? This might well return us to the Richard III line except for that "Quaker thing" and the lack of reference among Richard III's offspring of either John or Philip. I would welcome every possible clue (even the seemingly trivial) which might illuminate the threads of this web.

I am searching for information about the Fountain Pitts Timberlake and Welborn Mooney "Tim" Timberlake families. Why and when did they move to Oklahoma? Why did their financial situation change? If anyone wants the descendants of "Tim" I will share them. Also, has anyone compiled a list of our Timberlake men who served in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars? Would love to have a copy, if so. Are there any pictues of the Timberlakes? Surely there must be! I would gladly pay for copies.

Somewhere in all of these Timberlakes, someday I will find my Richard who married Rachel Estill. In the 1830's they lived in Tennessee and had at least one son named Benjamin. Benjamin went on in 1850 to Missouri and lived with his Aunt Matilda Van Bibber Estill and in the same year married Sarah Mullins. From there they went to Arkansas, Madison and Washington Counties. If you know anything about my Timberlakes, I would love to hear from you.

From: Fred Timberlake (6/10/98)
I'm Fred Timberlake. I'm trying to find out information about the parents of my Great Grandfather Joseph J. Timberlake who was born in Ohio in 1855 and moved to Leavenworth Ks about 1879. He died in Leavenworth Ks in 1899. I have researched his burial records and there is no information about him. Shortly before his death, he was visited by his brother (no name given) who was in the Army and was returning to Ohio to visit the rest of the Timberlake family. When I visited Joseph J. Timberlake's gravesite in Leavenworth, about fifty feet away is a grave for a James Timberlake. Across the river from Leavenworth and about 30 miles away is St. Joseph, Mo. Jesse James was arrested by a Sheriff Jim Timberlake who is suspected of hiring Bob Ford to assassinate Jesse James. I am curious if this is the same person. Any information you can provide would be great. Thanks

My great great grandmother, Harriet Virginia (Scott) Thomson, was born at Richmond, Virginia in 1823. Her parents were Ann Pulliam and Bennett Scott.Ann Pulliam's parents were Mosby Pulliam and Sally Timberlake. I read the Timberlake Historical Imformation at your web site. What caught my eye, besides the fact that the Timberlakes were in Richmond, was that William Wertenbaker, who married Louisiana Timberlake, was a friend of Edgar Allen Poe. Because I am named for Virginia Thomson, I inherited a book titled "The Complete Poems of Edgar Allen Poe" by J.H.Whitty. There was a note beneath the poem, "Queen of May Ode" which stated that Harriet Virginia Scott was to recite a verse to the May Queen at the May Day celebration at her school. "In company with a cousin, an attorney of Richmond and a warm friend of Poe's, she called at the Messenger office, and asked Mr. Poe to write her a May Queen Ode." Could William Wertenbaker be the cousin, attorney and friend of Poe's who accompanied Virginia Scott to Poe's office? Could our Sally Timberlake be the daughter of Richard and Francis Timberlake? Do you have any references or imformation that can pass along to me? I love your web site and I do believe we have found our Timberlakes. Any help you can provide will certainly be appreciated.
