So, now that you know I'm a Christian, and you know what I stand for, you may want an explanation of just why I believe this, and why I think everyone should. Christianity is more than what most people think it is. Most people believe Christianity to be a religion; really, this is not the case. It is a relationship. It is a one-on-one relationship with Jesus. That being said, who is this Jesus Christ, and what has He done for me and everyone else on this planet? Let's start with the premise that you believe in God. If you don't, then that's more of a problem than I'm going to deal with here. I'll be putting some more links on here to deal with that. Going on, just who is He? About two thousand years ago, a child was born in a small town called Bethlehem. He was born under very strange circumstances. His mother was a virgin, which in and of itself seems to be an impossibility. Further, the child she bore was said to be God Himself. He was raised much as any other child would have been at that time, but throughout His lifetime, he fufilled hundreds of prophecies of the Old Testament, including becoming the Messiah. Although He was a man, He was also fully God. This is confusing, but this can be understood through some of His acts, such as the many miracles He performed. No ordinary man could have performed miracles. He was no ordinary man. He was God. You must understand that His coming was prophesied in the Old Testament hundreds of years before His coming. His entire purpose in coming to dwell with us was to reconcile us to God. Thousands of years ago, a bold rebellion was begun. It started in the Garden of Eden, with Adam and Eve commiting the first sin. This forever seperated man from God; until the coming of Jesus. He took upon Himself the sins of mankind at the Cross.
Many of the religious leaders of His day became frightened of His power and His followers that He was developing during His ministry, and began to plot against Him. These leaders were so frightened that they wanted to kill Him. They were frightened that His teachings of freedom in Christ threatened their leadership of the people, and their power over them. One of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, betrayed Jesus, and led Him into the hands of these leaders, and soon thereafter, He was beaten, tried and convicted of heresy and other charges He was never guilty of. He was sentenced to die. He was hung on a cross on a hill called Golgotha, or "the place of the skull." After many excruciating hours on that cross, He died. After three days, He rose from the dead, proving once and for all, that He was God. He took on the sins of all of mankind onto Himself when He was hung on that cross, which also allows Him to forgive us from of all of our sins. Pretty neat concept, huh? If you want to learn more about this; I haven't been able to explain it very well here, but Christianity is explained much better here. You can also learn a little more here. I hope this has helped to answer a few of your questions. More will be added to this page very soon, however right now, I simply don't have the time to do the research to do this type of page justice. I'll add more details soon. If you want to find out more on a personal level, e-mail me. I would love to tell you about what Jesus has done for me and what He can do for you. He's done so many things for me that I'll never be able to express my love and gratitude to Him. You can feel this way too, just check out my testimony page, or e-mail me. Thanks for your time.
