Praising God In Prayer
1 Thessalonians 5: 16-19
Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit.
Philippians 4: 4-7
Rejoice in the Lord always, I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Reflection:
When should we praise God? The book of Psalms tells us: Then my tongue shall recount your justice, declare your praise, all the day long (Psalm 35: 28), I will always hope in you and add to all your praise (Psalm 71: 14), I will extol you, my God and King; I will bless your name forever. Every day I will bless you; I will praise your name forever. (Psalm 145: 1,2), and ...Day and night they do not stop exclaiming: "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God almighty, who was and who is, and who is to come." (Rev 4:8).
Sink back into your chair...take deep breaths...inhaling the goodness of God and exhaling the pressure and stress of your day. Bring yourself in His presence. Say a prayer to the Holy Spirit and ask God for guidance in hearing what He is saying to you today. God desires our praise more than anything else we can give to Him. It will be our priviledge in heaven to continually praise God. God inhabits the praises of His people. As we praise God, we are assured that He is in our midst. It is easy to praise God when things are good, but in times of trouble we must realize that God uses the unhappy situation to teach us something. When we accept God's way of dealing with us and we thank Him for it our whole spirit changes. Spend some time praising God each day! Begin to praise for a circumstance in your life that needs attention. Read Psalms of thanksgiving and praise. Remember, our own attitude dictates whether stress makes us sweet or bitter.
I write in my journal any thoughts or feelings I have experienced during this meditation and reflection.

Psalm 150
Final Doxology
Praise God in his holy sanctuary;
give praise in the mighty dome of heaven.
Give praise for his mighty deeds.
praise him for his great majesty.
Give praise with blasts upon the horn,
praise him with harp and lyre.
Give praise with tambourines and dance.
praise him with flutes and strings.
Give praise with crashing cymbols,
praise him with sounding cymbols.
Let everything that has breath
give praise to the Lord!
Hallelujah!

Praise God!
