Bible Reading & Meditation
Faith in God
Hebrews 11: 1, 6
Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen.
But without faith it is impossible to please him, for anyone who approaches God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Reflection:
We are asked not to have great faith, but to have faith in a great God. He wants to bless us and pour out his love and blessings upon us. We can increase our faith by looking back on all God has done for us. Our faith will also increase in our growing knowledge of the word of the God. From His word, we find out what to pray for. We prove our faith by thanking God even before we have received our answer. Faith in God results in faith in prayer.
Sink back into your chair...take deep breaths...inhaling the goodness of God and exhaling the pressure and stress of your day. Bring yourself in His presence. Say a prayer to the Holy Spirit and ask God for guidance in hearing what He is saying to you today. How important is faith in my prayer life? Am I a forgiving person, do I forgive others who hurt me? Does my life show my faith in God? Do I yield my will to God and look to Jesus? Fear is the greatest enemy of faith, Jesus said over and over.."Fear not." Do I have true faith that God can and will answer my prayers?
I write in my journal any thoughts or feelings I have experienced during this meditation and reflection.
Prayer Focus
Lord Jesus, I praise you. You are my God. All glory and honor is Yours. Help me, Lord, help me to grow in faith and knowledge of You and Your word. Teach me to have the faith of Noah, who with reverance built an ark believing in what was not yet seen. Help me to have the faith of Abraham who obeyed and followed you, not knowing where he was to go. Help me to have faith in a God who is able to answer my prayers. Teach me how to pray and know Your will. I ask all of this in the name of Jesus, my Lord and Saviour. Amen.
