Gratitude

Psalm 100: 4-5

Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name,
for the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations.

Thank you, dear God
For all you have given me
For all you have taken
away from me
For all you have left me

Gratitude is one of those subjects that gets frequent time in our house. Usually someone is complaining or acting in such a way that we need to be reminded to be grateful for what God has already given to us. Why is it that many of us have such a hard time remembering to be grateful each and every day? Can you just imagine what our day could be like if we went about our day with hearts filled with gratitude, no matter what we are faced with?

The Scriptures often remind us of the importance of thanksgiving to God. As we become more grateful to God, we learn to become humble. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble (James 4:6). We become humble by being thankful. The more humility, the more grace in your life. As a married couple together thanking God, you will receive more grace in your marriage. The same applies to the family that gives thanks together.

A good rule of thumb is be prayerful for all things, be thankful for everything! ( Everything meaning the good and the bad )

We plow the fields and scatter
The good seed on the land,
But it is fed and watered
By God's almighty hand;
He sends the snow in winter,
the warmth to swell the grain,
The breezes and the sunshine,
And soft, refreshing rain.

He only is the Maker
Of all things near and far;
He paints the wayside flower,
He lights the evening star;
The winds and waves obey Him;
By Him the birds are fed;
Much more to us, His Children,
He gives our daily bread.

We thank Thee, then, O Father,
For all things bright and good,
The seedtime and the harvest,
Our life, our health, our food;
Accept the gifts we offer,
for all Thy love imparts,
And, what Thou most desirest,
Our humble, thankful hearts.

We believe that God cannot answer prayers unless we are grateful for what we have now. Why would God want to give you more in your life if you have never felt the gratitude to Him for what He has already given? Are you humbly grateful to God for everything in your life today?

Likewise, remember it is relieving to the soul to accept and be grateful for your present circumstance. God has a remarkable way of turning around even the worst of situations for His glory. We might not always be able to see that in the immediate, but we must have the faith and patience to let Him work in our lives. Therefore, don't let this day end without giving thanks to God for everything you have right now, no matter what that may be!

In everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

When we trust God completely,
it is then that we can thank Him
for every circumstance in life!

A Prayer of Thanks

Dear loving Father, I come to you today to thank you for everything you have given to me in my life. I thank you with all my heart for being here when I need you. I am here today Father to learn how to be thankful for all my blessings and to be humbled by those blessings. Help me to see through any of the darkness in my life and to realize where my darkness is coming from. Now, allow me to see my blessings shining through my hurts, so that I may give my thoughts back to you, in praise, rather than helpless pity. Thank you most of all Father for my greatest gift, Your precious Son, who humbled Himself, that we might live more abundantly and be lifted up. In Jesus name I pray,
Amen
