Prayer

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
Lamentations 3:25

"It seems that God is limited by our prayer life.
He can do nothing for humanity
unless someone asks Him to do it."
John Wesley

How important our prayer life is to our marriages and families! Your marriage and family life is YOUR MINISTRY to the world. The "world", its ways, and the evil powers work very hard to destroy that which God has brought together. What better way to ruin a testimony than the destruction of a marriage and family? Those who see their lives as ministries know they must commit time every day with God in prayer individually, with their spouse and with their children. We could never write enough about the importance of prayer. It is as necessary to the Christian life as water is to our very existence!

Getting into healthly prayer habits each day will only enhance your marriage and your family. Those who pray together will tell you of the incredible power that two or more have when locked in prayer. Married couples that sincerely pray together daily know how important this is to their marriage. Peace is brought into the hearts of a couple that earnestly seek God in prayer. Children love to pray. Teach them early in life (as early as infancy!) the importance of prayer and communicating with the Heavenly Father.

Unfortunately many only seek God in prayer when they are faced with trouble in their lives. Those who do not seek God in prayer daily are missing the link necessary each day to touch God in their heart. While praying to God when in need is helpful to our souls,...daily prayer and meditation is our food for the soul! Don't miss out on a beautiful relationship that YOU can feel inside each and every day!

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7

What is Prayer?

Prayer is the means with which believers communicate with God. It is sometimes also referred in the Bible as calling upon God, crying out to God, seeking the Lord or drawing near to God. At present this is our sole means to communicate with God, hear his word, ask for our desires, receive His blessings and meditate in the power of the spirit.

Never underestimate the power of prayer!

Prayer Tips!
(A new browser will open should you wish to view the bible verses below. Verses are taken from Revised Standard Version of the King James Bible )

  1. Be specific as to what you are praying for...ask God for exactly what you desire.  (James 1:6)  (Matthew 7:7)
  2. Be sure what you are asking for is God's will! ie:  is your request found in the Bible?! Find scripture/s that define the request you are making and meditate on them.  (1 John 5:14-15)  (Matthew 6:10)
  3. Never doubt that you will receive. Always believe you have received your request that you have made known to God in prayer.  (Mark 11:24)  (1 John 3:22)  (Matthew 7:7)  (John 16:24)
  4. Praise God in your prayers always! Thank Him for answering your prayers in advance,...Thank Him always for what you have already been given!  (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
  5. Is there unrepented sin in your life? You cannot honestly expect God to answer prayers where there is deliberate sin!  (James 4:3)  (Psalm 66:18) We must attempt daily to do the Will of God in our own lives before we can expect God's Will to be done in ours. The Father knows your heart...repent and ask for forgiveness when you pray.  (Matthew 6:33)  (1 John 3:22)
  6. Always pray in the name of Jesus!  (John 14:13)  (John 16:24)
  7. Pray Always!!  (Colossians 4:2)  (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

If we truly love people, we will desire for them far more than it is within our power to give them, and this will lead us to prayer.
Richard J. Foster

It is our sincerest wish that those who read this monthly topic page will feel encouraged to develop their prayer life into a marvelous relationship with the Heavenly Father. That this process will lead you to understand God's Word and His Will for us as it is written in the Bible. For understanding His Will, meditating in prayer and a constant conscious effort to become the people God intended us to be, will bring us the true happiness that we are all longing for. There is no other way to fill the void in our hearts!

Our prayer is that each one of you who reads this will honestly spend quiet time with God today, earnestly seeking God and His will in your life. That your prayer today will lead you to search deeper into the scriptures to better understand your walk in the Spirit. May God Richly bless you as you seek to keep your life, your marriage and your family in His will!

God Bless!
