JayRbar Kennels (KsR)

Dedicated to health, temperment and quality in a family environment.

All puppies offered by us are first and foremost, family pets. If some compete in conformation, obedience, utility or field trials, then we consider that an added bonus. Because our goal is to produce healthy, well socialized dogs with appropriate temperment, within the AKC breed standard, all dogs not intended for the conformation show ring are placed with AKC Limited Registration available. As per the AKC Regulations, Limited Registration is defined as:
XI. Limited Registration
AKC registration application forms provide the option for registering dogs with limited registration. Limited registration means that litters produced by the dog are not eligible for AKC registration. The dog is eligible to compete in all AKC-licensed events except breed competition at an AKC-licensed dog show.
The decision as to the registration status of a dog is the responsibility of the litter owner(s). The litter owner(s) must check the appropriate box in section A of the individual registration application form to indicate whether the dog should be designated as having limited or full registration privileges. If no box is checked, full registration will be assigned.
Limited registration can only be designated at the time the dog is individually registered. The limited designation may be removed upon the written permission of the litter owner(s) and upon submission of a form for that purpose which, is available from the AKC, and required fee. Once the limited designation has been deleted it may not be reimposed.

For those dogs intended for the conformation show ring, Full Registration options are available, but will be co-owned* by us, unless the buyer has known breeder references or is known to the breeders as prior show dog owners and participants. We do reserve the right to determine co-ownership on a case by case basis.

Puppies will be available to new homes sometime after the 8th week, but often 10 weeks. Each puppy is accompanied by:

  • -veterinarian records of age appropriate shots & worming
  • -microchipping records and paperwork
  • -survival bag including 'get started' amounts of puppy foods and supplements
  • -5-generation pedigree
  • -AKC registration application

    New owners agree to:

  • -provide proof of a veterinarian appointment for a well-puppy checkup within 48 hours of taking the puppy home.
  • -provide a crate and agree to crate train the puppy
  • -provide a fenced outdoor/play area or alternative acceptable to the breeder.
  • -provide socialization training with a minimum 8-week 'puppy kindergarten' class. Preferred training is an additional 8-week basic obedience class.
  • -for the 1st year, the puppy will be returned to the breeder any time the owners are to be away for an extended period of time that necessitates 'kenneling'. The breeder does reserve the right to approve the time frames and the only cost is that existing diet (food) be provided.
  • -if at anytime during the lifetime of the dog, the owner needs to surrender it for any reason, the breeder reserves the right that the dog be returned to us for placement. Medical records and veterinarian checkup maybe required.

    CO-OWNERSHIP*
Our intent in co-ownership is not to interfere in the home life of our puppies or the total intergration into their new owner's homes. We view co-ownership as a way to mentor and assist those people new to showing and to also retain a 'guardianship' of these animals which we chose to produce. Under the present regulations of the AKC, co-ownership is the only avenue we have. The optimum arrangements are that both breeder and co-owners are in agreement and work totally in concert, however to ensure the baseline understandings are the same, they are outlined below.:
  • The cost of ear crops, routine and required veterinarian bills and normal day to day expenses will be the responsibility of the buyer.
  • The breeder reserves the right to enter the dog in AKC sanctioned dog shows and puppy matches at our expense. A minimum of 30 days notice will be given of such entry.
  • All costs of show entry, transportation, preparation and handling will be the breeders for shows we elect to enter.
  • The buyer/owner agrees to the same notification terms and cost handling for shows they elect to enter.
  • The breeder reserves the right to place the dog with a professional handler at the breeder's expense, for periods not to extend 30 days at a time, unless a longer term is pre-agreed to by both.
  • For any dog that is finished as either a CH (champion) and/or AFC (field trial) the breeder will expect compensation for 1/2 of the accrued costs associated with the title. Accrued costs will include any costs incurred by the buyer outside of the normal maintenace and care associated with dog ownership.

    BREEDING

  • All dogs considered for breeding will be within the age ranges recommended by their respective breed clubs. In general, that is no younger than 2 years of age and no older than 6 years of age.
  • Recommended health testing will be performed before breeding is considered. Tests include but are not limited to, cardiomyopathy and aortic stenosis for Boxers and hip/joint (OFA) for Pointers.
  • Veterinarian statement establishing a clean bill of health and no record of genetic or debilitating disease (ie cancer).
  • All appearance and conformation standards as established by the American Kennel Club and/or associated breed clubs have been met.
  • Proposed mates meet the same criteria as outlined above.

    UPGRADE TO FULL REGISTRATION
It is our belief that a dog does not necessarily have to be a champion to be a viable breeding candidate. However, if a dog has not been shown and proven in conformation rings, the breeder will require certain condititions be met before an upgrade and co-ownership is considered.
  • All conditions under 'Breeding' listed above have been met.
  • The dog has been assessed by two breeders approved by us, as to conformation, temperment and appearance within the breed standard.
  • A statement of intent and reason for proposed breeding of the individual dog. This will include a breeders standard, disposition of puppies and terms of sales contracts.

  • Once the guidelines have been met, the breeder will co-own under Full AKC Registration.
  • All costs associated with breeding a dog are up to the owner as are any monies received. We will not assume any liability for costs associated with breeding, nor do we expect any fiscal return.
  • All co-ownerships will be enforced for the lifetime of the dog.
  • All conditions are subject to review and modification upon written agreement of both parties.
  • Any dog that is co-owned may not be spayed or neutered without consent of both parties.
  • Upon request and proof of spay or neuter, co-ownership contracts maybe terminated.

We hope that your life with your new puppy is rich and fulfilling. Your puppy is healthy, happy and well-socialized. Please keep us involved with your plans and we hope to see you often.
