Columbine

(Latin: Aquilegia)

Columbine comes in almost every colour including mulicoloured flowers, with a differnet inner and outer petal. This is a graceful plant with funnel-shaped flowers with long spurs and dainty leaves. Unfortunately, Columbine is short lived in city gardens, but no one can tell me why.

Height: 1-3 feet (30-100cm)
Blooms: Mid-spring through Mid-summer
Varieties: Canadensis (yellow & red); Colorado (blue & white); Silver Queen (white)
Propagation: Seed in spring. And don't forget if you remove the faded flowers you'll prevent self-sowing.
Light: Full Sun to Partial Shade
