Delphinium

(Latin: Delphinium)

Delphiniums are also known by the name Larkspur. These plants are magnificent tall spikes of closely spaced flowers.They do very well over winters in cold climates. In milder conditions, they should be covered with a heavy mulch in fall.

Height: 2-6 feet (60-175cm)
Blooms: Summers
Varieties: Belladonnna (light blue); King Arthur (purple); Connecticut Yankee (blue, lavender, white)
Colours: blues, purples, lavender, white and pink
Propagation: Sow seeds early indoors for blooms the same season. Most will bloom a second time in late summer.
Light: Full Sun
Soil: Prefers slightly alkaline soil
