Foxglove

(Latin: Digitalis)

Foxglove is not really a perennal, but rather a hardy biennial, which may bloom annually if cared for properly. They have tall spikes of tubular flowers. But be aware that the large leaves at the base of the plant are poisonous if eaten.

Height: 3-5 feet (90-150cm)
Blooms: Summers. If you cut stems of early flowers it will encourage reblooming
Varieties: Excelsior; Foxy
Colours: Shades of rose, purple, yellow or white
Propagation: Sow seeds in late summer for bloom the next spring. Let late flowers go to seed to ensure healthy plants year after year.
Light: Moderate Sun to Partial Shade
