There has been some confusion as to who Richard Stockstill's (brn 29 January 1826) wife was. There is a record of an Elizabeth Cano married to a Richard Stockstill. It was unclear if this was the same Richard Stockstill who was the son of Austin Stockstill and Sarah Davis and husband of Mary A. Weatherman. Thanks to the efforts of Nancy Boyd this question has been resolved. The following is what she found......
"Dear Stockstill Researchers,
First of all, Elizabeth Cano was listed as marrying a Richard Stockstill in
1864. Obviously, since the census data on our Richard Stockstill indicate
that Mary was his wife during tha time; Elizabeth Cano must have married
someone else. That should confirm that Mary A. Weatherman is the mother of
all of the Richard Stockstill children....... Nancy Boyd -

Through my cousin, Hazel Lowery, I located Donna Ricchuitti who authored the
History of Stone County which is an early work on Austin and Sarah Davis
Stockstill. She graciously sent me some of her work. The bulk of her work
was damaged by the earthquake and she is not pursuing genealogy due to health
and other considerations.
