La Scie is a lovely community on the Baie Verte peninsula overlooking White Bay and the Horse Islands. This is the view approaching the town by highway.
The channel leading from the sea into the harbour at La Scie is a long one and the constant pounding of the waves at irregular intervals produces a constant roar.
The rocky beach at La Scie is adjacent to the municipal campground, a great meeting place for local residents and tourists.
This young woman is a shrimp grader. When the shrimp boats unload in La Scie she is kept busy weighing, measuring and grading this bounty of the ocean.
The wharf at La Scie is a busy place when the shrimp boats are unloading their catches. From here these shrimp were trucked to St. Anthony for processing.
These unusual rock formations are found in Daniels Harbour on the west coast of the Northern Peninsula. A friend stands atop one of the rocks to show its relative size.
Unlike most coastal rock formations these rocks are very smooth and can be found beside the sea in the harbour area.
This photo, taken in August, 1999, shows the wharf in Margaree just east of Port aux Basques. Two workers are unloading a boat of Grey Sole which were immediately processed in the adjacent fish plant.
Seal Cove is a lovely and peaceful community on the west coast of the Baie Verte peninsula.
On this August morning many residents of Seal Cove were outdoors, many working on their homes, some preparing firewood for the winter and others gathered around the wharf.
This large building in the main area of Stephenville has a mural of a Humpback Whale painted on it and its location makes it readily visible to all visitors.
The Trinity Bay community of Trouty has a small river running through it and offers the photographer many opportunities to capture the serenity of an outport community.
Coachman's Cove is a beautiful little community on the Baie Verte peninsula. An early morning fog hangs over the wharf and its many boats, all seeming to tug on their ropes in anticipation of going back to the sea.

This scenic view of the sea was taken from a small picnic area in Coachman's Cove, also the site of an interesting hiking trail.
Like most communities along Newfoundland's northern coast, Coachman's Cove displays many interesting rock formations and the rugged beauty is everywhere.
Arnold's Cove is at the northern tip of Placentia Bay and at the point of land where the Avalon Peninsula begins. This photo, taken beside the Lions Club Hall, shows the beautiful seascapes that abound in the area.
For many years a busy mining community Bell Island residents pay tribute to that memory through large murals on pubic buildings.
Always a traffic hazard and sometimes jokingly referred to as "Newfoundland speed bumps" moose can be seen almost everywhere. This cow and calf are on an access road east of Hawke's Bay.
Fleur de Lys is at the tip of the Baie Verte peninsula and is deemed an historic site due to the earlier habitations there of Dorset Indians. This soapstone wall shows evidence of primitive carvings.
