Henry SWITZER to George SWITZER
Newport Perry County, Pennsylvania June the 13th 1840. Know all men by these presance that I Henry SWITZER of the town of New Port & State aforesaid have bargained & sold unto Rev. George SWITZER of Pennsylvania all my rite, title & claim to 3250 acres of land lying and being in the Countyes of Wood & Lewis Stait of Virginia, for the sum of $263 Dollars in hand paid this date above written. They conditions of this sail are such that if the said George SWITZER can make more for the land the said SWITZER agrees to pay the said Henry SWITZER the overplus reasonable expences excepted & the Henry SWITZER on his part in case the land shoul fail in bring worth that amount of money to the Rev. Geo. SWITZER to refund the money recd. In testimony whereof I hereunto set my name & affixed my seal this 13" day of June, 1840. Henry Switzer (seal)
West Virginia, ss. I James McKINNEY Recorder of Ritchie County in the state aforesaid, do certify that the foregoing is a true copy of an assignment from Henry SWITZER to George SWITZER for all his right and title in 3250 acres of land lying in the counties of Wood & Lewis duly admitted to record this 22" day of December, 1864. George SWITZER & Wife to Wm Wilshire RILEY
Know all men by these presents that we George
SWITZER & Luch A. SWITZER his wife of Dayton
Montgomery County Ohio in consideration of the sum
of two hundred Dollars in hand paid by Wm. Wilshire
RILEY of Columbus, Ohio, have bargained and sold
and does hereby grant, bargain and convey unto the
said Wm. Wilshire RILEY and unto his heirs an assigns forever the
following premises situate in the County of Gilmer & Ritchie in the State of West Virginia, and bounded and described as follows to-wit: All the interest of said George & Lucy A SWITZER in the one thousand acres of land on Tanner's Fork on the waters of Crow Creek in Gilmer County, Virginia (West Va.) originally patented to Saml YOUNG about seven miles northwest of Glenville and about five miles north from the little Kenawa River. Also two thousand acres in Ritchie County, West Virginia on the waters of Spruce Creek a branch of the right hand fork of Hughes River described as follows:
Beginning at the corner of Isaac SIMMONS survey No. 11, thence S. 3 degrees E. 800 poles to a beech, North 87 degrees East 400 poles to a dogwood, N. 3 degrees West 800 poles to a beech, South 87 degrees West 400 poles to Robert SYLBURNS survey No. 11 to the beginning as per patent to
Saml YOUNG dated 19th July 1786. Also another tract of two thousand acres on Spruce Creek a branch of the right had fork of Hughes River adn described as follows, to wit: Beginning at a beech corner to Saml YOUNG'S survey No. 4, thence South 3 degrees East 800 poles by a line thereof to a Dogwood, N. 87 degrees East 400 poles to a dogwood, North 3 degrees West 800 poles to a hickory, South Eighty-seven degrees West 400 poles to the beginning, as per patent to Saml YOUNG bearing date July 19, 1786, situated in Ritchie County, West Virginia all of said property belonging to the heirs of Frederick SWITZER, decd. The amount intended to be conveyed hereby being one undivided fifth of said premises. To have and to hold said premises with the apputencances unto the said Wm. Wilshire RILEY and his heirs an asigns forever. And the said George SWITZER for himself and heirs and assigns against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever claiming and to claim from or under him the said George SWITZER . In testimony Whereof the said George SWITZER and Lucy A. SWITZER his wife have hereunto set their hands an seals this seventh day of
December in the year of our Lord on thousand eight hundred and sixty four.

. Before me a Notary Public within and for said County personally appeared the above named George SWITZER & Lucy A. SWITZER his wife and acknowledged the signing and sealing of the above conveyance to be their voluntary act and deed for the uses and purposes therein expressed. And the said Lucy A. SWITZER being examined by me separate and apart from her said husband and the contents of said instrument made known to her by me she then declared that she did voluntarily sign seal and acknowledge the same and that she is still satisfied therewith. In Testimony Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and official seal on this seventh day of December in the year one thousand eight hundred and sixty four.
