Special Poems Sent to Me

Cherished Friends

*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*

God must have known there would be times

We'd need a word of cheer

Someone to praise a triumph

Or brush away a tear.

He must have known we'd need to share

The joy of "little things"

In order to appreciate.

The happiness life brings.

I think he knew our troubled hearts

Would sometimes throb with pain

At trials and misfortunes

Or some goals we can't attain.

He knew we'd need the comfort

Of an understanding heart

To give us strength and courage

To make a fresh, new start.

He knew we'd need companionship

Unselfish...lasting...true,

And so God answered the heart's great need

With CHERISHED FRIENDS....like you.

I THANK YOU WITH ALL MY HEART

*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*

Thank you is one of those

wonderful phrases people use to

express a special gratitude.

But there's often a lot more to it

than those two words can say.

When it comes from the heart

from deep inside

the nicest feelings

and the most special thoughts,

"Thank You" means so much.

It means Thank You for taking the time

to show that you care.

It means "you really made my day,"

and sometimes it means that you

really make all the days

so much better.

It means you make me feel so nice,

and I wish I could

do the same for you...

Just by letting you know how much

You mean to me.

I'VE LEARNED

*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*

I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is be

someone who can be loved. The rest is up to them.

I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people just

don't care back.

I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only

seconds to destroy it.

I've learned that it's not what you have in your life, but

who you have in your life that counts.

I've learned that you can get by on charm for about 15

minutes. After that, you'd better know something.

I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to the best

others can do, but to the best you can do.

I've learned that it's not what happens to people that's

important. It's what they do about it.

I've learned that you can do something in an instant that

will give you a heartache for life.

I've learned that no matter how thin you slice it, there are

always two sides.

I've learned that it's taking me a long time to become the

person I want to be.

I've learned that it's a lot easier to react than it is to

think.

I've learned that you should always leave loved ones with

loving words. It may be the last time you see them.

I've learned that you can keep going long after you think you can't.

I've learned that we are responsible for what we do, no

matter how we feel.

I've learned that either you control your attitude or it

controls you.

I've learned that regardless of how hot and steamy a

relationship is at first, the passion fades and there had

better be something else to take its place.

I've learned that heroes are the people who do what has to be

done then it needs to be done, regardless of the consequences.

I've learned that learning to forgive takes practice.

I've learned that there are people who love you dearly, but

just don't know how to show it.

I've learned that money is a lousy way of keeping score.

I've learned that my best friend & I can do anything or

nothing & have the best time.

I've learned that sometimes the people you expect to kick you

when you're down may be the ones to help you get back up.

I've learned that sometimes when I'm angry I have the right

to be angry, but that doesn't give me the right to be cruel

[or to STAY ANGRY. I can change my mind.]

I've learned that true friendship continues to grow, even

over the longest distance. Same goes for true love.

I've learned that just because someone doesn't love you the

way YOU want them to doesn't mean they don't love you with all

I've learned that maturity has more to do with what types of

experiences you've had and what you've learned from them &

less to do with how many birthdays you've celebrated.

I've learned that your family won't always be there for you.

It may seem funny, but people you aren't related to can take

care of you too.

I THANK YOU FOR THESE FEELINGS

*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*~>~*

I Thank You For These Feelings!

For bringing me happiness

as though it were a gift

I could open every day

....I Thank You.

For listening to the words

I want to say

....I Appreciate You.

For Letting me share the most

personal parts of your world,

and for welcoming me with your eyes

....I Am Grateful To You.

For being the wonderful,kind

giving person you are

....I Admire You.

For being everything you are to me,

and for doing it so beautifully

....I Thank You....

With All My Heart.

THE ROAD OF LIFE

(author unknown)

At first I saw GOD as my observer, my judge,

keeping track of things I did wrong,

so as to know whether I merited heaven

or hell when I die.

He was out there sort of like a president.

I recognized His picture when I saw it,

but really didn't know Him.

But later on when I met Christ,

it seemed as though life were rather like a

bike ride, but it was a tandem bike,

and I noticed that Christ

was in the back helping me pedal.

I don't know just when it was

that He suggested we change places,

but life has not been the same since.

When I had control, I knew the way.

It was rather boring, but predictable...

It was the shortest distance between two points.

But when He took the lead,

He knew delightful long cuts, up the mountains,

and through rocky places

at break neck speed,

it was all I could do to hang on!

Even though it looked like madness,

He said, "Pedal!!".

I worried and was anxious and asked,

"Where are you taking me?"

He laughed and didn't answer,

and I started to learn to trust.

I forgot my boring life

and entered into the adventure.

And when I'd say, "I'm Scared,"

He'd lean back and touch my hand.

He took me to people with gifts that I needed,

gifts of healing , acceptance and joy.

They gave me gifts to take on my journey,

my Lord's and mine.

And we were off again.

He said, "Give the gifts away;

they're extra baggage, too much weight."

So I did, to the people we met,

and I found that in giving I received,

and still our burden was light.

I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life.

I thought He'd wreck it;

but He knows bike secrets,

knows how to make it bend to take sharp

corners, knows how to jump to clear high rocks,

knows how to fly to shorten scary passages.

And I am learning how to shut up and pedal

in the strangest places,

and I'm beginning to enjoy the view

and the cool breeze on my face

with my delightful constant companion,

Jesus Christ.

And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore,

He just smiles and says. . . ."Pedal."

ONE

(author unknown)

One song can spark a moment,

One flower can wake the dream.

One tree can start a forest,

One bird can herald spring.

One smile begins a friendship,

One hand clasp lifts a soul.

One star can guide a ship at sea,

One word can frame the goal.

One vote can change a nation,

One sunbeam lights a room.

One candle wipes out darkness,

One laugh will conquer gloom.

One step must start each journey,

One word must start each prayer.

One hope will raise our spirits,

One touch can show you care.

One voice can speak with wisdom,

One heart can know what's true.

One life can make the difference,

You see it's up to YOU!
