FHE ACTIVITIES INFORMATION LINE - 765-2279 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. daily. Cathy Winkelman has generously volunteered to operate an FHE Information line. This is a second phone line that she will operate from her home. The purpose of this telephone line is to compliment the calendar. Weekly events will be listed in a message with brief information about these happenings.

The greatest potential use for this line will be in the event of a cancellation (due to illness or weather) or addition of events. It is possible that community events that did not make the newsletter can be added here. Often there are dates for items of interest to homeschoolers whose dates are not published until after our newsletter is issued.

The intention is not to replace the FHE calendar. There is limited room on the phone message. Please use discretion when you call and ask something to be added. In order for this service to operate smoothly, Cathy will have the privilege to add or omit items as she sees fit. Bear in mind that this is a new concept that may need a bit of fine-tuning before we have it just right!

This is a service primarily for FHE members. The messages may be brief and therefore confusing to non-members. You can direct calls from new homeschoolers to First Line at 727-8100 or Carrie Pippins.

FHE BROCHURE - Brochures introducing FHE and homeschooling are now available. These are a very concise way to give direction to new or prospective homeschoolers. We try to clarify the functions of FHE, NCHE, DNPE and HSLDA since folks often confuse these acronyms. We hope to place these at local libraries and possibly churches that support home education. Please find yours included in this issue and copy and distribute as needed. (Fold right flap into center first.)

FHE WEB SITE - Our website has undergone a minor change. For a minor fee (which has been donated to our organization) we have a shorter URL (web address). It is http://www.oocities.org/~fhedu. Remember, you can find a copy of our monthly calendar here also!
