At the NC District Level in May, Nat had won the Short Sermon category. Nat and Ruth placed 2nd with their Group Drama. Ruth also received a Superior rating for her violin solo.

In Springfield, Nat was a final contestant in the Short Sermon category, rating Superior with Honors. Ruth and Nat received a Superior rating for their drama, written for them by their youth choir director at First Assembly of God, Winston-Salem. These honors can ultimately help them receive college scholarship awards.
