American Girl Clubs
by Phyllis Babcock

If you remember, last fall I sent out the word that we needed some new volunteer mothers to open clubs around town. There was so much interest among young girls and so much potential for shared learning and hands-on skill training but limited space within my existing club.  Guess what?  There are now FIVE strong clubs and over fifty happy girls because a few ladies responded.  I thought this would be an encouragement to all of you.  It seems we are always aware of the lack of volunteers and resources, but here is an example of how FHE works for your community!!  It enriches all of us when these mothers and daughters and friends are growing, reading, working and playing together within our high-paced American lifestyles. The benefits and memories are priceless.  "Yeah!" for homeschooling -- I'm glad that we still make time for the things that count.

Here's a rundown on the clubs I know about:

As I've talked to each group, the format and arrangements vary but all are really enjoying themselves. I'd like to get all the clubs together in May for a picnic and share time. If there is anyone else thinking about starting a club next year, please feel free to contact these ladies and maybe attend a meeting sometime.  Watch for a display at the Talent Night - the girls are doing GREAT things!!
